Yes, the car is still apart and on stands, just as I left it, but I have been making slow yet steady progress on her. Here's a few pics to show some of the pieces I've been refreshing as of late

3 years later, and I'm back to resurrect my thread!!! Whaaawhoooo!!
-
oh jeez... looks like you got it made! 8) and don't bother with my thread just yet, no real updates as usual, but I am tryin to finagle a 20vt Haldex swap :norty: if all goes to plan. Enjoy the sun :salute:
-
Only updates I have are all talk  haha Basically, I found out more info on the swap process. I also found out that my buddy has 1 complete TT225 and 1 complete engine. The 225 car had a messed up head, but the rest is strong. The spare engine needs new main and rod bearings. So between the 2 that's one complete package  Unfortunately, I also found out that my buddy doesn't "own" the TT 225 yet, but that should be sorted quite soon. As far as my G60 Project bits, they're all up for grabs. I'm doing a conditional sale until I find out that I'll be able to get enough money from those parts to fund my 20vt Haldex swap.... This is driving me crazy!! I'm so stoked at the possibility that this might actually happen, but if it turns out that I can't pull off the sales to fund it... I'll be quite sad. :cuckoo: Also worth noting, i think anyway, is that i've found a source for most of the parts I'll need to swap in the haldex setup. Here in the states we didn't get all the nifty synco cars, so I had to source a passat syncro setup from Canada. The plan is to cut out the Corrado's rear floor, and weld in the passat rear floor, bolt in the gas tank, bolt up the rear beam and contol arms, and figure the rest out  still doing research, so if anyone can help out, i'm all ears :salute:

He lives!!! LOL Good luck with everything! :salute:

no no updates yet again, but I've been toying with a new idea... A buddy of mine has a totalled out Audi TT 225 that he picked up for cheap. The only problem on it is the head is basically FUBAR... He said for $1000USD I have have my way with it & take whatever I need off of it to do the sawp into my rado. My question to you guys is basically, is it worth it?? I mean the obvious answer is HECK YES because who doesn't like 1.8T modability and quattro AWD action. My dilema is that I've spend so much time acquiring G60 parts that i've really grown to like the idea of the stupidly unreliable G lader. Should I wait & see this thing thru or say screw it and go 1.8T?? Please help me out guys!!
-
I agree. Look at me buddy, I have a boat load of shiny new parts just sitting around, yet I can't bolt 'em up cuz I can't get enough money to get the block machined :( So get on with it!!
-
gettin close bro... i'd like to see pics of the u bend when you can get em
-
Thanks for noticing the effort! And you're prpbably right about me liking it just being all one color... I am usually one to love that nice glossy shine of a freshly painted car, but the falt black just looks mean 8) as for the wheels, they really stand out! I think i'll leave it this way for a bit before i make a true decision on what to do, but flat black may be its future... Maybe i'll keep it that way till the g-lader gives up the ghost & put on some gloss when i turbo it :norty: (^ don't mind my rant i'm a bit :cuckoo: . I mean talking about a turbo when i can't even get the 1st engine finished :nono: ) baby step...baby steps... I am gonna make a commitment to do SOMETHING on my C everyweek, no matter how small. I can't let it get forgotten and fall wayside... Hold me to that guys!
-
so here's the little speck of progress i did actually make. MOST of the body work is complete, but now the car is one color and all the major body parts are back on for now. I kinda dig this look. what do you guys think?? S7300448.JPG[/attachment:2ax88zem]

I felt the same way a few times about my R6. It's an awesome machine and i feel great after a good spirited ride, but when you use it for commuter duty even that gets old. Glad you found the :luvlove:
-
how's this.... I stole the pic from you boost :salute: boost.jpg[/attachment:1u13q7d4]

I wish i could help :( I did manage to get it scuffed and primed (though not 100% finished with body work). Mainly cuz we're having a get together at the house and the wifey thought it looked a bit messy all different colors  One thing i would VERY VERY VERY much appreciate is if someone could get me the part number for the top hat piece for the front strut... The part that more or less holds the strut assembly to the car at the top... the crazies at my local dealer hear '90 corrado & it's like i said a curse word :cuckoo: Once i get that i can have her off jack stands, which i would very much like to see. Please help!! Finding the cash to get the machine work finished has been a wall i just can't bust thru :brickwall: :epicfail:

Informative as always! :notworthy:

more new parts to stare at  (you know i REALLY can't wait to get to the assembly portion of this project.) anyways, as always, for your viewing pleasure.... BBM Shipment including Poly bushings, ARP rod bolts, oil pan & windage tray, new crank bolt, int. shaft bearing, water pump, the rest of my Mocal Oil cooler kit (Push lock style), and ACT 8lb flywheel... Also included by accident was a eurosport lightweight flywheel weighing 14lbs. And, yes, I did the honest thing and called 'em up to nitify them of the mix up. Don't want that bad Karma coming at me :camp: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfS7301500.JPG[/attachment:2yv9wvgg] Shiny aint it  S7301501.JPG[/attachment:2yv9wvgg]

It's kinda hard to imagine all the parts i have in my attic, shed, back patio, & in the car all belong in such a small space :cuckoo: Once i get the funds i'll get the necessary machining on the block & head then you should see the thread have more steady updates. Money makes the world go round and that includes Corrados
-
Just a quick update, have a UPS delivery coming today from Bahn Brenner weighing in at about 50lbs can't wait to drool over my new parts
-
Updates updates!!! There monkey, updates in a timely fashion  1st off the Recaros.... no update. I just stared at the 2 seats & i'm still not sure what i'm gonna do. I'd really rather not butcher the original seat frame because i'd really like to sell those & who wants one without a frame, right? It would make things quite easy tho....hmmmm 2nd, I have all my suspension parts  stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfS7301418.JPG[/attachment:rub85fts] Corrado92.pdfS7301420.JPG[/attachment:rub85fts] so i went ahead & started assembly. UNTIL.... I realized i forgot to order 2 parts. The Top hat piece for the front struts (the ones that pretty much hold it in the strut tower) and the little spring seat plate on the rears (the ones monkey forgot to install 1st go round) :bad-words: . Sot that stopped that lil project. **Psst!** - Does anyone have the part numbers for those missing pieces? Today i decided to finish up stripping down the block so i can get it all cleaned up & here's the pics :salute: passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfS7301430.JPG[/attachment:rub85fts] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfS7301431.JPG[/attachment:rub85fts] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfS7301432.JPG[/attachment:rub85fts] S7301433.JPG[/attachment:rub85fts] I have a few more shots to share, but i don't quite have the time to post 'em ~Enjoy!!

Update: Just received shipment including rod bearings, main bearings, thrust washers, ARP main studs, Piston rings, oil pump, and new timing belt kit. picked these up yesterday  need a lil TLC to get them tip top, but all in all they're pretty close to mint  :clap:2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfS7301415.JPG[/attachment:2f7amrpp]S7301411.JPG[/attachment:2f7amrpp] now i need to figure out how to mount them correctly. I noticed A20 LEE has, what looks like, identical recaros....hmmm **EDIT** - checked A20 LEE's thread and confirmed my suspicion that they were corrado recaro frames....guess I'll have to get out the easy mig again :brickwall: (wish i had a REAL welder...that one is crap :bad-words: , but it still gets the job done  )

i noticed mr. stage4 has the gasket still on his, which made me wonder what everyone else has done... Was there any enlarging done in that area or just smoothing? It's quite obvious that everyone enlarges in inlet portion. Also, on the tex, i just read over a post about intake manifold porting. It was mentioned that if the mani could be lengthened it would give better flow to cyl 4, as it's such a dramatic turn for the air to make.

Henny - please note post edit above
-
awesome post, henNy! :salute: ...now how much did those things run you? Yan- You mentioned that it's about what driving style i prefer. I'd have to say that i'm looking to make my car mimic my motorcycle as much as possible in all areas. I know she won't be there just yet, but that's the goal. Torquey engine feel, free fast revving, tight chassis, great brakes. The kind of car that's point-and-shoot on the highway. I remember the 1st time i drove a 997 turbo fitted with PCCBs. I thought "WOW! this is just like my bike! you see a gap, stab the pedal and BAM! you're there! And the brake..... incredible!" :notworthy: :notworthy: Now i know the G60 is no Porsche, but it doesn't mean i can't aspire to make my car the best it can be in its current form.

nothing but praise for BBM :notworthy: very helpful folks too. When i started my project i gave 'em a run down of my plans & they affirmed that i was on the right track. I agree with the cost per hp increase you hit at a certain point, yan. Although i haven't even put this thing together, i pretty much got all the applicable parts for my stage of build. I tore it down bare & i'm rebuilding it like new & i'd hate to realize that there was something simple i could have done after the fact, ya know. i'll check into the weight matching price, but i'm thinking the crank will be too expensive at this point. Thanks for the help. Oh & :salute: on the kind words about the charger, she's a true beauty!!
-
yeah the head is going under the knife within the month & i'm hoping to start assembly by mid April, but we all know how that goes. I can't wait to get all the goody boxes together! :norty: most of my body work is complete, but i've been going back over everything just for good measure. may also do a lil something with the fenders, but it won't be much since i'm only running 16x7s for now, and she won't be slammed down yet either, but as they say "in due time"
