Thanks Guys. I have sorted it. It was an allen key which you had to push up and turn ('92 VR6). I think something had got caught on the rails. Once I wound it fully open it went back without a problem. I think a stripdown and greese up will be in order this weekend. It can rain all it likes now!!!

Hello all. I need help! My sunroof is stuck slightly open and I need to sort it before it rains again!! When I press the switch, I just hear a clicking sound from the motor. i have removed the panel and checked all the wires but no luck. When it was working, it was moving freely. Is there a way of manually moving it??? Thanks

An easy question for someone I'm sure.. Are the front hubs/knuckle of a VR the same from '92 to '95?
-
I had the same problem last week. On top of the gearbox where the cables connect from the gear level, there is a small plate with a bolt through it. This can be used to adjust the selector. My bolt came loose and the plate was able to move about on it's own. Get the bolt in the middle of the plate and tighten. If you have trouble finding it I can take a pic.

I've taken a look and the rings seems to be OK, no damage although they are not turning completely true. One of the sensors seems to have loads or crap on it compared to the other one. I think I will order new rings and sensors and replace them anyway and do the hubs and bearing while I'm at it. Not this weekend though as I need to do some work on the Mk1 MR2 that I'm restoring!! :D Will keep you posted.

Thats sound like it is exactly the the same problem. Thanks for the advice, I will inspect the sensors and rings. Thanks for your help.

I don't think it is a warped disc issue. I've had that on other cars before but this is different. I seems though it is being caused by a part of the braking system. It's a bit wierd that I can't press down the brake pedal when it happens...

Hi Guys, I hope someone can help me here. At very low speeds and when I gently apply the brake, I get a horrible judder through the pedel, the pedel seems to lock up and can't be pressed and I also there is a clicking coming from the engine bay. It started happening six months ago but was once in a blue moon but now it has got to a point where I happens almost every time. Braking from higher speeds or harder seems to be fine. I have replaced the front discs and pads all round but the problem is still there. Anyone with any ideas? Thanks

..also I was thinking of fitting an oil cooler which I think I will do now.

Thanks for the comments. I'm currently running 10/40 and almost time for a oil change so I will try something thinker.

It does it when the engine is warm. It was doing it a lot worse before I had a turner in to have a look at when the car was idling rough and running rich. This was solved because one of the air breath pipes had been cut and there was a fault code on the air flow meter. That has all been solved but I still sometimes get the smoke on overrun. I thought it may still be running a little rich? Maybe the Lamda senor is now knackered after running rich?

I'm having the same problem with my VR smoking on overrun but I would say my smoke looks more white than blue. Same cause??

thanks... are you referring to the switch on the end of the stalk? I was under the impession that this just pushes in?

How do I switch between MFA 1 and MFA 2 ? It's currenlty on 2 but I'm about to do a 400 mile round trip and would like it on MFA 1. I would look in the manual but I'm at work and going to leave from there. Can anyone help? It's on a VR by the way.

It was a jack the engine up job. It made it a lot easier with the rad out. I just had to disconnect the downpipe with the cat, support the engine and tranny with jacks, disconnect the engine from the mounts and slowly jack it up about 3"'s. There is enough play in all the other pipes and wires to allow this. You just need to keep an eye on the downpipe when jacking the engine up to make sure it doesn't catch. And yes it was on a VR.

Success! Rad and Water Pump replaced. Once I had the bumber and rad off the water pump was fairly straight forward. All done without any bolts rounding and snapping off! Pics to follow.
-
Thanks for the advice. If they have the bolts in stock when I collect the pump tomorrow I will buy them. Fingers crossed, all will go well!

Ok thanks. Your posts and photos so far will be a real help to get the radiator off. I have found a step by step guide on the internet that goes through the steps of jacking the engine up slightly and replacing the pump. I think I will have a crack at the weekend. I have removed an engine from a MR2 before so I kinda know how to go about it. And of course I will take photos and makes notes on how to do it and post them here.

Hi 3corsameal, How did youu get on with changing the water pump? I have to change the radiator, which is fine, and also the water pump as it's started to rattle. I was going to get a garage to do the pump but from your photos I see that once you have the front of the car off, it is accessible. Any tip's would be greatful!! Thanks
