Hi folks, Thanks for the suggestions so far. Have had the starter motor disengaged in case that had got stuck on and blown but its not that. Went down and had a look with them yesterday - The gearbox seems to be changing gear okay (while stationaly and the clutch seems to be working alright....) but even in fifth the it wont turn the engine. When trying to start it it 'ticks' once like the battery is flat but presume this just because the starter cant turn the engine. Am taking it round to the another garage where they will be doing the engine transplant so might find out more when they start to strip it but am obviously concerned about the same thing happening to the new engine. could it be a failed oil pump and just coincidental with the other oil change? The guy said it was just as if it had run out of fuel and came to a stop and its resting point was on a side street not a stretch of open country road so will have been at pretty low rev's.....i think im keeping a list of any other suggestions to pass onto the mechanics so thanks again.

cheers, just gutted as the money was going to general tidying and a wax oiling before winter really kicks in! anyway, its all part of the fun i suppose :?

not too sure but dont think it will start or even turn over, he said that his initial thought was that it had lost all electrical power. will find out more tomorrow and will be keeping my fingers crossed. only really needed the wheel bearing doing at the garage otherwise i would have done the rest but thought it would get it out of the way as its getting a bit nippy out these days!!!....it may not be related to the bits i had done i suppose. I'll wait and see what i hear tomorrow and let you know about the engine, but really hoping that i wont need it! thanks.

Have sent the corrado into the garage today to get a noisey wheel bearing replaced, brake pads and oil change. all went well and the mechanic was just taking it for a spin when it came to a halt and wouldnt move. He says that they tried to rock it but it was stationary like it has seized! they;d had it running in the garage and t still has all the oil in and has not been noisey or smokey and he said that there was nothing unusual before it stopped. its a vr6 that has done less than 90 thou and they're going to look into it tomorrow for me after they've somehow got it back to the garage. Thought it was just worth mentioning here in case anyone else had come across anything like this before and i could point them in the right direction or at least a good place to start.....hope its not the engine. :gag:

Hi Ian, saw you flash and tried to respond but im a bit out of practice having been out of the club for a few months! ... also thought i might have a light out or something :? The car is a bit of a project having brought it earlier in the month and wanting to de- boy racer it slightly. have already changed the grill and am in the market for an original rear bumper and might return it back to the number plate it was born with :) I like the Transit bodykit on yours :D

Cheers - followed the wicki guide to remove the motor (found some extra fuses and relays up there as well!) it wasnt jammed and didnt seem to smell burnt out so was a bit stumped. put it all back together again.....and it worked! think i must have hit a pothole/speed bump and shaken a connection loose (the front left headlight connector also came loose a couple of weeks back!) 3 weeks of driving round with the windows open....and all for a dodgy connection....gutted! cheap solution tho i guess. Thanks anyway, not sure id have been able to find it without some help - M

thanks for the suggestions - i'll have a look at these before forking out on a new motor. What is a resister pack tho...and where did they hide it? ...and on a slightly different subject, is there an alternative to the H manual? Thanks - M

Hi guys, Im about to order a new heater/blower motor to try and solve this problem but thought id check to see if anyone recognise these symptoms as something obscure that i'd not considered.....a whiff of electrical burning? smell was noticable in the 'cockpit' and a few moments later realised that the blowers were no longer blowing. Naturally, first thought was fuses but all were unfortunatly still in tact which has left me thinking that the motor has expired. does this sound about right? It has had a new heater matrix a couple of years ago but am pretty much lost without a haynes manual. (found the Corrado heater control repair guide in the Knowledge Base with info on where to find the motor- Thanks for that) any thoughts appreciated - thanks, M

thanks, will make a start on the potentially problematic parts and see where that gets us!

Hi all, Im having an intermittent problem with the engine on my VR6 cutting out - the occuranace seems to be at random (not just on long or short journeys) and each time it has been as i dis-engage the clutch while slowing down and turning....like on entry to rbt's and negotiating junctions! The car starts again without any problems .... its just a bit scarey when the power steering vanishes...and dangerous! The car is chipped, inducted and think has high lift cams (due to the lumpy running before warm) It happens about once a week but is starting to weigh on my mind. Any suggestions will be gladly recieved and investigated. Thanks M
