Thanks to everyone for their advice. The news is good. I went out and tried it today. No noise at all on start up. I did some lock to lock just for the sake of it and I drove around the yard in some figure of 8's. All is quiet and power steering works as it should. It must have settled itself over night. Maybe I caused premature wear or whatever but for the moment its working fine. Nice to get a bit of luck for a change.

No I didnt hand prime it. I figured after 10 mins of running dry it was a lost cause. Heres how my mind was working at the time "ah screw it, its been running dry for 10mins, its knackered. Just throw the bloody fluid in anyway and see what happens. Theres a tiny chance its ok. Ill do a few turns lock to lock, it might come good. No, youve ****ered it. Lock up the shed and have a glass of jack" Ill try the bleeding procedure properly again today. Never quit, never surrender right. ?

I had a complete brain fart today and ran my power steering pump dry for approx 10 mins. Id been doing jobs on the front end so had drained the power steering fluid. To cut a long story short I completely forgot to refill with PAS fluis and I started up the car and left it idling for around 10 - 15mins. Did NOT turn the wheel during this time. Now Ive refilled with fluid and bled the system (did a few turns lock to lock, Half assed attempt really as Id resigned myself to the fact Id ruined the pump already). Anyway pump is noisey now. I was too ****ed off to continue so I just left it. Ive been in a foul humour all evening. So my question is there any chance the pump is fine and I just need to do a proper bleed or is it screwed because they cant be run dry even for a minute (according to internet research). Oh and its a G60 so pump is specific to to the car.

Yeah i didnt stop to think that i was actually asking how to clock my car but in fairness its just as easy to get a 2nd set of clocks with much lower miles and stick them in. I know the car has 130,000 miles and just want to be accurate. All my services reciepts etc back this up. Im just a nerd and want everthing to be correct. I guess ill just wait untill i find a set of clocks for sale with the right mileage. I also plan on keeping this car until it disintegrates. I have had my golf gti for 10 years now and i have no intention of ever selling. I get attatched to cars and if i didnt have a girlfriend my yard would be full of old wrecks :)

My corrado G60 digital mileage display has **** its pants. The numbers on it are gone all gooble-dekook. [- 6[]-1_2[] thats the only way I can describe it. I have put another set of clocks in and they work fine but the miles on these say 160K and the car only has 130K. Id like to keep it accurate for obvious reasons. So can anyone give me advice on what to do. Can I get the new clocks reset to 130K miles if so where and how much approx.? Or can the original set be repaired.? Loose connection, bad solder joint etc.? Or does anyother Vag car share the same digital mileage display unit and I can simply swap it out. Any advice welcome. Thanks

Ive recently bought this guys corrado G60. see link to his old build thread http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?895-biggrim-s-1992-G60-(more-pics-added-19-03-07) His real name is Graeme and he is from Glasgow. The last thread i found from him was around 2007 and he had just sold the corrado to a chap from Dublin. Id like to speak to him about the Clifford 300 car alarm he had fitted to the car when he had it. As you can guess its giving me trouble. It keeps arming itself every 30 seconds. Ive read the manual and it says I can turn this function off via the Plain Veiw switch. There is NO plain veiw switch. Also I cannot find the hidden valet switch. Ive searched most places and am on the verge of tearing out the dash which Id rather not have to do. Im planning on restoring this car over the winter when I have some free time but untill then i need to get it roadworthy. Its due its NCT or MOT to you guys. I cant send it to the testers with the alarm blaring every few seconds. All I want to do is turn off the Auto alarm function. So if anybody knows Biggrim can you ask him to message me on here. Thank you.
