Hi guys fitted many a set without issue to mk1 and mk2s in ther past. I bit foxed by the vr front ones though. There on the car but getting some clonking from both fronts that sounds like the springs arent mounted correctly. The aps only came with one nut per coilover. The standard suspension has two (one on top of the spring cap and one on top of the mount). as mine are assembled in order: spring spring cap standard vw nut bearing rubber mount mount top ap nut. The top ap nut is tight so thats not the issue. wandering if i should ditch the other nut or change the order? thanks in advance

lovely car buddy, am planning to do the same with my lights and fogs, is tht laminx film that you used? also, where did those wheels come from? i need them in my life! laminx film, go for it just not yellow though :nono: Rims where from ebay, many wasted evenings searching but worth it in the end.

cheers for the comments. Still work to be done such as the aerial and repeaters (ordered tinted and blue arrived!). rims are jap spec genuine split rims (v.light) similar in style to RS's. 16 x 8 all round with H&R adaptors, wider at the back. Love the AP's, KW quality at fk prices.

Thought about time put some pics and info up. Sold my golf mk2 20vt as decided needed something more sensible, somehow ended up with a vr  93 Dark Burg pearl, 178,000 on the clock and as she left the factory. Did a deal with the mrs that if i brought another vw id keep it standard. Couldnt resit so its began all over again (now single). ap coilovers, various tweaks, rims and 5k of happy motoring. Realise might not be everyones cup of tea but its not their car. Will update and add decent photos when get the chance

work in the toon. waiting for someone to spot a dirty dark coloured low rado with yellow lights!
-
have a look at ebay 280324552928 .Gen splits but not bbs's, adaptors should be here anyday. my mk1 is the love of my life. rado was supposed to be kept standard as a daily but get carried away!

Done some phoning around local places. one has four at another branch that there transferring over. £185 for falkens 205/40' fitted :D getting them on monday so will sort some pics out then.
-
Tyre traders called to say falken out of stock of the 205/40's so back to the drawing board!
-
yep spent a while on vortex. Couldn't get over the look of the falkens in 205/40 so gone that route. cheap as chips from tyre traders Should be able to run pretty low :D
-
cheers zak, you def the man for tyre/wheel combo questions. Those 205's look 8) Just a bit worried to 8) for a daily.
-
guess 215/40/16 also an option
-
Any pics or advice Was going with 205/40 but not many decent makes do them. Tempted by 195/45 as cheaper and more choice. Done some searching on e38, tyrestretch.com etc. 45's seem ok on a golf mk3 but look to big on a mk2

cheers chap, thought was the case. Hopefully my home brew gasket will last until the next oil change!
-
Just done a oil change. Planned on replacing the filter housing to block gasket. When unbolted from the block i realised i had been supplied the wrong gasket by the local dealer planks in parts. The existing gasket was a bit ropey but I had no choice to instant gasket and bolt back up. It only had two inputs so guessing one oil in one out. Can anyone confirm this is the case. I bit concerned that ones oil and one water and with a bad gasket im asking for trouble!

Hi Guys wondering if someone could help. As above its no workie, even when up to temp on a good drive! After having a look at the 2 single pin sensors on the top of the filter housing. Think I have spotted the prob. Could someone have a look how there wired. I have 3 wires , yellow, blue and green. The greens not even connected. almsot forgot its a vr6.
-
Yep 20vt mk2 sold, replaced with a blackberry vr6 rado. Was going to keep standard and spend time/money on my series 1 but too tempted for a slam and rims
-
Looking at some 8x17's myself. Prob is wheels are ET15. Realise this is not ideal but really like the wheels. Is it going to be managable or will there be to much poke?
-
Do 288mm's fit under stanadard speedlines?
-
mine only work on the 4th speed, is that the speed controller on the blower or the switches at fault?
