I sympathise with you haha, the job is hell. It took me litres of thinners and all other sorts of fluids, a wire brush, a wire wheel in a drill, a scraper, a heatgun.....really not fun.

Taken last week at the ring. Had a great time and car was spot on!

Im off over in the morning with Destination Nurburgring, will post some pics on my return all being well! :salute:

Started the timing chain job......Its a big ass job isnt it! and were at the Ring in two weeks! Got rear discs/pads and bearings to do too, all good fun!

Cheers! Day was great, weather stayed good all day bar a couple of quick showers. Lots of great cars to look at and chase around too. Definitely faster as the day went on and confidence was growing, didnt want it to end really  Apart from a little misfire when we first arrived which was sorted by checking all the plugs the car was absolutely faultless, the handling and stopping exceeded my expectations to be honest. It could do wit the front a little higher to stop the rubbing and the back perhaps a little harder, maybe next time ill tweak the tyre pressures too. Ive really got the bug now and am looking forward to our Ring trackday in august, probably going to book up for Oulton Park in september too! I bought the cd of the photos they took as it was our first one  The South circuit is quick, very quick the more confident you get but there are two very sharp bends which are hard to get used to! The brakes i have on are the 288' with Yellowstuff R pads, they didnt miss a beat all day and we drove pretty hard and often, the car is very light now and the engines standard so theyre more than up to it. What the hell have you got in making that power??

1x lambda sensor, 1x rewired fog light ( i might have over stripped the electrical system  ) and some new poly axle bushes and were good to go, all motd up!

Its the performance trrim fibreglass panel, just a thin sheet thats slightly oversized for the hole, riveted and bonded in place. Easy  I got the cage as a kit from Custom cages, CL4 kit i think it was, then just added a harness bar to it. What do the protectors look like? got a pic??

Yeh i might drop into the local EMR, theyve got a weigh bridge at the door. Was just wondering today what it weighs as its been on a serious diet!

Doorcards all done, still waiting for the adhesive number plate....Quite happy with them, not too difficult to do just time consuming. I've still got plenty of alloy sheet left if anybody wants a go :wobble: http://|http://thumbsnap.com/kVIRzEbv Oops, looks like they need a clean too! Not sure what to do about door pulls, i might just leave it as is. The red cord you can see is what you pull to open the door from the inside 8)

Just the doorcards to finish now tomorrow, bought a great big piece of alloy sheet to do them. Fitted the aerocatches today and the sunroof panel fiiiiiiinally arrived so got that straight on. Going for mot this week coming and booked in at Silverstone on 16th July! The sunroof took so long that i decided to stick with my original bonnet for now, ive cut a few vents in and completely stripped the underneath of it, has made it a lot lighter so im relatively happy. Filled up with Mobil motorsport 15W50, water wetter and fuel treatment. Plastic windows finished and fitted my aircon Got some Yellowstuff R pads, 4motion fitment. aaannnnd a Sparco helmet on the way These quick easy projects eh?!
-
Carried on today, nearing completion...... Finished putting the windows in with the vents/intake. Fitted the baffled sump, changed the fuel/oil filter. Going to order some decent Millers oil now and fill it up with some good stuff! Still the sunroof hasnt arrived and ive got to order the bonnet off them yet....

No, its up the hill at the top of Adenau, theres loads to choose from just that i had a good time here last year so thought id rebook. Anyhow..... Started on the windows today the P4P back window fit perfectly, although i did have a bit of an 'incident' all is well now. The slider even works on the front window!

http://www.sonnenhof-nuerburgring.de/pa ... glisch.htm Here again, same as last year. Great hotel and theyve got a games room  Bit of a trek up the hill when youve had a few tho! But worth it when you get there just for the view 8)

Thats a shame, we will miss you by a couple of days, we are there Rad Am Ring weekend (21-22nd) and weve got a full trackday booked up for the monday!! :salute:
-
I forgot i started this on here! Shamelessly copy and pasted: :norty: Got a couple of pics though it has moved on a bit since these! Aiming to be fully track prepped and setup for a Ring trip in august! Not far to go now, refit baffled sump and fill up with fluids, complete windows and get the bonnet. Jobs a goodun!
-
Excellent, cheers!!

Ive just bought a sump baffle kit from C2Motorsports, trouble is theyve come with no diagram or anything to show the weld position, has anybody got them in and have a pic i can use, ideally like to get them in today!!!! Cheers 8)

Does anybody know off the top of their head what size the hoses are that come through to the heater matrix on a '94 VR? Im removing the matrix so just want to know what size fitting to order to return the water. TIA
-
Does anyone run a cage in their corrado? Im looking at the custom cages club4 one or maybe the full multipoint one, any other suggestions and advice on weld in fitting appreciated. Also my Cobra buckets just arrived, what harnesses are recommended, what makes, 5 or 6 point etc and how do they mount correctly? 8)

Ditto with the wheel situation, ill be running 15s with 288mm setup as with the weight and power ill be running they should be fine, as i get better at using the car and more confident i may feel the need to upgrade, which i can do at a later date......Unless...i see a setup for a bargain price and i cant resist  For plastic/carbon bits try http://www.performance-trim.com/index.html

Thanks for all the replies! I do intend keeping the car road legal, i already have some wheels which are 15" team dynamics lightweights which i intend to clad in r888' 205/50/15' I already have some brakes too which are only the 288mm but they cope great round the track on my mates 350+bhp golf track car so i figured theyd be fine on the corrado, though it sounds like the bigger ones may be a better route (meaning bigger wheels?) I will be getting some Eibach ARB, front and back and a midrange set of coilovers (spax maybe). The glass is coming out today and the sunroof and bonnet will be carbon items. Foglights removed with oil cooler and ducting to engine bay sounds good. As for the RWD thing i appreciate what your saying, ive been round the Nurburgring in my TVR cerbera, but i think fwd is more fun for a novice/intermediate trackday driver until im back into the rwd thing, the cerbera is being sold today :(
