  15. Hi guys thank you for all the responses cant believe this was a year ago and i still havent got a engine back in the car !! I put a ad up on a local vag site and managed to pick a block up for £50 plus the nice chap gave me 2 big boxes of vr spares. I had the block bored out to fit my high compression 83 mm pistons and the bottom end is nearly back together now. better be back on the road this summer or i wont be happy lol
  16. Hi Guys Serial im pretty sure the caps are all on right but i will double check tonight just in case. Volksworld if the original crank had had some work done to it you would think with standard bearings in i would have the opposite effect and the crank would be loose  Im preety sure then answer will be something to do with the bearings does anyone know what size the standard shells should be ? Thanks for all your help guys
  17. Hi guys thank you for the replys I had the similar thought and as i bought a cheap set of big end bearings to start with i thought they must have been the culprit. So i ordered some standard size bearing from vw for £75 tried these in yesterday and still the same i only have to nip the bolts up and the engine locks solid really cant get my head round it. It has to be down to the bearings or the conrods as the main bearings fit perfect so i assume what they told me about the crank was correct? Im wondering if standard size bearings ive bought arent actually the standard size? I may have to invest in a micrometer and see whats gone wrong. Thank you for the replys again lads at least im thinking in the right direction lol
  18. Hi Boys and girls im after a little help if you can. You may remember earlier this year i took the engine apart from a rescued c to find this: Two nice big cracks right along the block !! so i sourced a 2nd hand block from a nice local chap who also chucked in a few spares he had lying around (nice guy) The bores on the block were quite far out so i sent the block away to get bored out to fit my newly imported 83mm wossner pistons.while away i also got the crank checked and all reports were good. Ok so here comes the problem ive started rbuilding the engine fitted the crank with new bearings and bolts and all was goin well untill it came to the big end bearings. The pistons went in fine slide up and down by hand great but as soon as i torque the rod bolts bown the engine seems to cease as i can no longer turn the engine over even with a 6ft extension bar. i dont know wether it should be as tight as this? What could be causing the problem? Any help will be greatly appretiated. Thank you in advance.
  19. thats gr8 mate thankyou very much
  20. Alrite lads im wondering if anyone know the vw part number for the oil spray jets for the vr6? ive tried searching the forum but not had much look and also tried vagcat but it wont let me register fully for some unknown reason. any help much appretiated thanks chaps
  21. yeah ive put an ad in the the wanted section hopefully something will turn up cheers m8
  22. well your not the only one thats surprised m8 not exactly wot i was hoping for :( u no of any vw breakers up here m8 ???
  23. no m8 not that one this one lol
  24. alrite lads thought you mite like to see wot i discovered when i took the head off my vr lets just say im not in the best of moods :( bit backround about the car first i rescued this vr from a mate of mine who had the car sat on his drive for two years after the bottom end started knocking the plan was simple take engine out rebuild put engine back in! This is wot i found when i whipped the head off yesterday the rear crack runs the whole length of the block !!! so i am now in desperate need of a full bottom end i havnt had chance to take the pistons out too see wot there like but it doesnt look good theres a good gap at the front and back of each one. is this common ? so if anyone has a full bottom end and is local (north east ) could you please get in touch. cheers lads any help or advice will be greatly appretiated
  25. well done m8 hope you enjoy it :D get sum pics up lets have a look
