Right ive just got a Crossflow head which i want to rebuild. eventually it will go on my g60 ;-)
Ive never rebuilt a head before, the guy bought it from said he would do it for me but i want to learn ;-)
does anyone have a guide to rebuilding an 8v head?
also part numbers/links to where i can buy new parts if needs be
valve stem seals, retainers, springs, lifters, valve guides etc?
i was thinking of installing some 41mm inlet valves, i can do the machining at a friends business
where can i buy 41mm valves with 7mm stems? i can only find 40.5mm valves with 8mm stems!
also ive seen aftermarket Ti retainers, does anyone have experience with these?
also 'lightweight' hydraulic lifters but i suspect these are a vw part in a different box?

If you cut off the lower butterfly as indicated in your diagram and weld it up, all of the charger air will be forced into the engine all of the time. Not good. You can cut off and weld up the small pipe coming off the lower butterfly if you have removed the carbon cannister though.my dump valve will vent the air when the throttle is closed.
atm its constantly closed, and its very stiff when i try to open it by hand, so i doubt it opens on its own....

Mine did the exact same thing,
i replaced all the vacuum lines, and now it is perfect ;-)

if im not using the isv nor the carbon canister etc, is there any need for lower butterfly?
can i cut it off and weld it up? shown in red
