2.0l 16v Not starting Desperate for HELP! Ignition / spark related
classic replied to classic's topic in Engine Bay
sorted! broken wire! :D so happy! -
Hello guys, Can't say i have been on here recently, i have been using my other car (mx5! :D), so the corrado has been standing still. The car in question is a 1991 2.0l 16v, but its from a conversion, so i'm pretty sure its still running the 1.8l KR stuff. It will not start, so i have checked the easiest place first being the ignition side making sure it has a spark. When i removed the HT lead from the coil to the distributor, the lead sparks only once when starting, When put to ground on the cyl head. So i turn the key to start, it sparks once, then will not spark again until i stop cranking it over. I have replaced the coil, the cap (the graphite tip was found missing awhile back when i looked at it), all the leads are fairly new (1yr old silicone jobbies). i'm really getting depressed with it as i do not know what to check now, so i am begging for you guys for help! How can i check the 3 wire hall sensor? on the side of the distributor? As i guess its possible its not getting an engine position and would only fire once? Maybe? Anyhelp would be highly appreciated, i'm in the Yeovil area and would pay good money for someone to even give me a hand! Cheers! Vince

2.0 16v vs 1.8 16v Cam belt + tensioner - Advice needed!
classic replied to classic's topic in Engine Bay
confusing! Still not fully sure with what i should go with, should i just go with a 1.8 belt + tensioner then? -
Hello! B) So the Cambelt seems a little shagged on my Corrado, But i got alittle bit of a problem, The car was originally a 1.8 16v, but it has been converted to a 2.0 16v But using the 1.8 head! (Was originally Kr, now has 9a block with Kr head Apparently). So my question being, is there a difference between the two cambelts ? And are the tensioners exactly the same aswell? Really confused atm so could do with some help ! I would just use my reg number but that will be finding cambelt kits for the original 1.8 :( Thanks alot, Vince btw, posted on edition38 too, so sorry for repost if u view it :D

Check the starter / exciter wire to the starter motor solenoid, make sure your getting supply when the key is turned to the start position, if its not then check for wiring cuts / corrosion / loose connections ect. (think its usually a blue wire iirc, but dont hold me to it !) Goodluck
