  1. Hi K, Haven't been able to figure that bit out. But sounds like the inside of the guard. Paul
  2. Hi Everybody, I have just finished popping a set of Ace 198 18 inch jobbies my G60. With 215 35 18 rubbery things. Oh and a set of 10mm spacers all round, just to left them out from the inner guard. BUT, when i brake on a right or left hand lock they are rubbing really badly. Any ideas??? Paul
  3. Hi Paul, Just posted a message on the Problem section re:chugging and another re:smoking G60. So fed up was I with 3 indie garages not being able to tell me what was wrong that i left it to Isaac Agnew's on Boucher and told them what was wrong. Left the car in yesterday morning, picked it up last night at 6. Left the showroom £167 lighter but with a much faster car. Even smoked a CRX on the M2.
  4. Cheers for the help folks. Lost the rag with the car on Monday so left it into VW yesterday. The rear vacuum hose behind the block has worn so bad it was even stalling. One flange replaced on the head, two sensors and a new vacuum pipe sorted it. £167 quid well spent considering 3 indie garages coundn't find a problem with the car. Say what you want about dealers in general, but my rocket has returneth better than ever. Even scapled a CRX last night. Greatttttttttttt. Many thanks again, Paul (G60)

    smokin VR6

Might be a tempreture sensor. If it thinks it too cold or too hot it overcompansates your mixture thus burning out the excess fuel. Black smoke.
  6. Cheers for those comments guys. I got a cat from them, was fitted by an exhaust centre, only to have it bang the underfloor. So got it taken off and returned. But because it had been run a couple of miles (which was the only way of finding out if it fitted or not when moving) they said sorry no refund or exchange. Dick Turpin did wear a mask and cowboys normally ride horses???
  7. Hi Everyone, Anybody had any dealings with a company called Top Gear? There are based in Bridport, St Albans, West Bromwich and Burnley. If so what did you think of them? Paul
  8. Hi Paul, Red '92 G60. Couple over her, but i think the other is 2.0 16v. Paul
  9. Hi Everyone, The thing is, with me living in Northern Ireland (which last time I checked was still part of the UK) they don't seem to sell Optimax over here. I checked the Shell website and it states there Optimax avail. UK only. So checked out the local 6 Shell garages and none of them sold it. I had to go to BP and get Woopy Doo Unleaded which is 97RON. Close enough maybe??? Then passing the local car shop i saw a bottle of Wynn's "Octane Booster & Valve Seat Protector" for £4.50. Anybody tried this or should I??? Cheers, Paul
  10. When the old part is taken out it is a white plastic bulb holder. Increase the size of the holes at the bottom of the holder and there should be two mini spade connecting metal strips that you can then pull out .the bulb should fall out, if not it will come out with a little pressure through the now bigger holes with a needle of small screwdriver. Then take yourself down to halfords and ask them for a bulb with longer wire out of the end. put the wires through the bigger holes and bend the surplus wires round the side of the holder. then push in the two metal plates that were took out earlier. it doesn't matter which way you put the wires in. there is no left or right. oh and when the new bulb goes in let it sit out about 2-3 mm from the holder, and NOT flush. you WILL get a better lighted diplay this way. mine went and i sat back for months with no heater illumination. so i tried this myself, and it did work. Deleted 3 Duplicates!! VR
  11. Sorry, forgot to add that. '92 g60 1.8 8v (as you prob. already know). paul

    Chugging

Hi Everyone, When i am on say the motorway, and want to overtake something, like a fiesta, focus, puma, cougar, or any other ford and drop it from fifth to fourth there is nothing there at all apart from chugging. This continues for about 5-10 seconds then lets rip as per normal. I have fitted a new lamda sensor, a new air vac. hose, flushed through injector cleaner and petrol treatment, but still it goes on. Help! Paul
