Any pics of your C? Mines now painted and being put back together. Bodyshop tell me mid-week :D More 'finished pics to come but still need the whhels refurbing which is the next job. Annoyingly we are looking to move and the house she's found has parking for 2 cars and we have 3 with the C :confused4: Conclusion is i may end up having to sell it!

Engine wise is a genuine 98k with history 1.8 16v. Thought about changing or modding it but feel it would be a shame to spoil a genuine car. Probably going to keep it stock all over. Now decided having seen the car that the side mouldings are staying off! My mates are all wanting me to upgrade the engine, drop the suspension and stick a stainless exhaust on it. Again thoughts and comments on this welcome.

No more lacquer peel on here... Sill closing panel was a bit rough so removed and new metal grafted in Front shot

Some pics i took earlier today during a quick call in at the bodyshop. Its having a full respray but without taking the glass out. Two new rust free doors are on as well as the two new rust free wings are nearly ready. The back lights are coming out before being sprayed as is the rear bumper. Front Bumper now the scuffs and scrapes have been removed More to come...

Just a quick one... Just about ready to have my Sebring alloys refurbished. I'm lucky enough to have a pal with his own powdercoating business who's offered to do all 5 at mates rates (free). Obviously they will have the tyres removed prior to blasting. Question 1: What is the original colour code for them? or is it safe to just have them done in 'alloy wheel silver like everyone else has' Question 2: If he powder coats the metal rims what do you do with the centre caps? Thanks in advance

Thanks for all your comments. All things considered i've decided to keep them! As the cars staying standard i feel it would only look right to keep them. I'll stick some pics up when its all done. Thanks again.

My cars almost ready for the bodyshop. My intentions were always to keep the car standard. Its a a 1.8 16v in Tornado red. My question is do i keep the black rubber side moulding on the doors and front wings? Seen cars with and without just struggling to decide before it goes in. Thanks in advance.

Nice one Rob, How do you get the actual cluster out the dash?

Everything else on working but not counting up the miles!! Any suggestions of where to look?

Door inners look the same and have the necessary holes ready for the old style of winder. How does the winders/lifters come out of the doors (mechanical and the electric one)?
-
Hi all again, More help needed please. I'm in the process of changing over the two doors from the rusted early ones to nice rust free later ones. All was going well and the door is now fitted and working etc but the problem i have is this... The later doors came with electric windows so have that mechanism fitted inside the door to lift/raise the window. I want the original mechanical winder fitted from the original doors. I've started drilling out the old rivets that hold the mechanism in place from the new door in order to remove the old electric mechanism but is is right??? Before i go too far can someone just run through what the procedure is for removing the old mechanism and fitting the old one please? Thanks in advance

Are the early and late front bumper the same? if not what's the difference? Reason for the question is i will be fitting a pair of later front wings to my early car. I now know the later wings have a slightly wider arch than the early ones but i'm wondering if at the point where the wing meets the bumper will look right considering the wider arch? Thanks in advance.

Today... Replaced the old naff grey parcel shelf, which had a pair of 6 x 9's fitted, with a nice mint uncut dark grey/black one to match the rest of the interior. Only paid a tenner for it :D

Today job was swapping the broken drivers door handle over. Only way in before was through the passenger door however like an idiot i parked it up last night on the drive about 6" from the wall and got out the drivers door in the normal way and locked. Come to it today and doh :bad-words: couldn't get in as drivers door handle buggered and no way passenger door due to parking too close... a trip through the boot later was enough to force the door handle change to the top of the list. As the car still had the one key for all locks i took the time to strip the the lock down in order to swap the barrel over. A bit fiddly but got there in the end. Cleaned all the old grease/swarf off and re-greased all the moving parts. Anyway about an hour later the job was done and now everything is working.

Hi all from me and my sub-entry level early 16v.... Always vw but never a Corrado until now. Like most of you on here its something thats always been on my 'i want one of those' list. Finally took the plunge and purchased one advertised on here. Its not that pretty to look at (yet) but seems to have been mechanically well looked after and ran a dream on the drive back home earlier today. The spolier works!! The body has a combination of surface rust, dents, scuffs, lacquer peel and the obligatory pink faded red paintwork. By the time i've finished it will have a pair of new doors and front wings and at least both side flatted back, prepped for painting in its original tornado red. The rest will get away with a cut, mop and polish. Obviously i will go through the car mechanically giving it a thorough strip, clean and major service including all fluids and belts. The car will keep its original sebring alloys as they are in great condition with no major marks. They will get a light re-furb though. The suspension will also remain stock as the stack of receipts with the car show that most of it been replaced in recent years. Interior wise its all there just needing a good clean. As i'm quite anal i will be removing most of it to strip and clean before refitting. The drivers seat has the usual side bolster wear and maybe replaced with a better one together with the original steering wheel as this has too started to fray. Pictures will be posted in the next couple of days showing 'now'.

Thanks guys, so if i understand this correctly the doors and wings will swap straight over and the outside rubber strip is the same for both. The only real differences are slightly flared front arches on the wings (will still bolt straight on though) and the inner door cards which i can swap to the ones currently on my doors. I can pick up and pair of complete doors and wings for £110. Seems a fair price to me but your thoughts are welcome!! One final question... my early 16v is Tornado red what colour was the later VR6 red?
-
Have an early (1990) 16v and am replacing both doors and probably both wings. Have found some but am told they are off a late VR6. Pictures of them look the same as mine (without the dents and rust) and have the rubber strips. Any reason why these wont fit my car? same question as the wings?

That's a mighty fine collection of replies thanks very much. So the switch is at right knee height and all Corrado definately are fitted with the manual switch. You just know i'm going to run into someone whilst glued to my rear view mirror watching it going up!!
-
Thanks guys for such a quick response. Another question though... (excuse the ignorance as i'm not collecting my car till Monday) But where is the manual switch to raise and lower?
-
Good luck, pics would be nice... Picking my first one up on Monday. Nothing as exotic as yours just an early 16v thats going to be my new mini project to get mint. Like you i'll start a new topic to stick some pics up. What are you plans? Standard route or modded? Where in the world are you? Martin

Just a quick question... I have had a look through older posts and the wiki already but not found the answer. Question: did all Corrado's come fitted with both an automatic and manual rear spoiler? especially the early ones? Thanks in advance from a newbie Corrado owner.
