Akinesis

When I go to pull away there is a slight and completely random (both in length of time of the squeal and how often it happens) squeal coming from (what sounds like) the drivers side of the engine. It sounds like something I had before, which was a heat shield rubbing against the disc brake, but there isn't one down there. It just doesn't sound like a belt, though, but I could be wrong. It sounds like metal on metal to me. I'm not sure if it does it when I'm driving along at faster than jogging pace cos of the road/wind/engine noise, etc. But the noise isn't there on tick-over or revving the engine, just under load. Anyone got any ideas?

Hey, thanks for the reply. Turns out, through a little investigation of my own, that it wasn't the bushes making the noise - it was the suspension! It's sitting so low that when the dampener was full stretch the spring unseated at sat skewed against the piston. Going to raise the car this weekend! But I still need to do the bushes at some point so thanks for the info :grin:

Hi all! The mirror glass in the drivers' wing-mirror pod flaps around at motorway speeds and it drives me nuts in the corner of my eye. I don't want to start pulling things apart and risk damaging them, so I'm looking for a heads up from anyone who might have had a similar problem and fixed it? Is this an easy fix? Is the glass easy to get out, etc, etc? Cheers all!

Just picked up my new Corrado and the first job has got to be replacing the rear rear-beam mounting bushes as they are making an awful noise!! Is this something I can do myself, or do I need a press, etc? The bolts look quite well-weathered - so can I pick up some new ones from anywhere?? That's providing I can get them off!! Would poly bushes be better here or are standards the way to go? Mine's the 2.0 16v, if that makes a difference to anything. Cheers all!
