Yes I know this is an open forum and anyone can read the posts in it , but I naively thought only those who had a genuine interest in the Corrado would read this. My so called colleagues are not admirers of the C but to think someone has been trawling my post's, by the way, I know who you are, is a bit sad. My life and interests are obviously more interesting than their own . Back on topic! Had my Cougar for a month now and she's proving to be a great drive, especially on the motorway :D Still see quite a few Corrados on my way to and from work, and still get the lusting feeling I always have when I see one. The Cat does not corner on the country roads like the C but makes up for it in other ways, comfort being one! I have warned the missus I'll be looking for a VR for the weekends but probably not till next year. The Corrado is still one of the best looking cars on the road IMHO and one day I'll own one again. :)

M777CUSGTI- Senior Sales Engineer - Industrial Computers, Panel PC's and rack mount servers. The Cougar was my choice, I'll be honest. Had to get something presentable but I wanted a bit off ooomph. Tried a 406 Coupe 3.0 V6 SE, full leather etc. but it just didn't do it for me. Then tried the Cougar and wow, I was impressed. I like the looks and the power is quite refined too. Not too bad on the country roads either. Decent boot space aswell, I can get in a couple of 1U systems (boxed) quite easily. But there is no doubt about it, I will get another C, probably the VR6, in the not too distant future, I just need to make sure I'm earning enough to run two V6 motors and keep the missus in the style she'll be getting used too!l Crazymarcel- He's good but he'll want to see the paperwork with the figures on it!

Well, I've done it, traded in the C for a '99 Cougar V6. Paperwork is all signed, just have to wait a few days for the service and MOT to be done. So I have a few days to say goodbye. Have a good route planned for a drive tomorrow, though no doubt the old girl will take me where she wants to go, a nice quiet country road with plenty of twist's and turns, just to remind me of how damn good she is. Yeah I know I'm a slag for pimping my C off for such a lowly thing as a Ford and a few quid, but hey, I now have a happy, smiling wife, a newer car, and I do actually like it, drives well, has a good bit of the grin factor in it, though not as much as my C! You never know, with the extra dosh I'm earning now I could well end up bagging a VR in 6 months or so, just for the weekends of course. would'nt want to run it into the ground like my poor old valver. It's been fun guys, and thanks for all the advice, you know who you are! I'll still be hanging around, just to see whats going on.

I sold the wifes Orion Ghia Si (130bhp version) last year, got more offers for the number plate, K58 LTR, the screws made it look like K5.8 LTR , Funnily enough it was a couple of chavs that took the car and plate! :wink:

had them all round on my C for over a year, no probs, good dry tyre not too bad wet tyre.

Never been a fan of red cars but that one looks pretty cool 8)

My C is rock solid, no matter what the weather! Now the wifes Streetcruiser, that's a different story altogether! Like driving a jelly if even so much as a butterfly goes past! :)

A guy I used to work with has one of these,92' Union Jack custom paint job, so as well as hearing it from miles away you can see the bloody thing too! He's had it garaged for about 5 years, only takes it out on very special occasions and even then only within a 20 mile radius of his home, think he does about 200 miles a year. Say's it is ridiculously expensive to keep and run but worth keeping as it only has around 5k on the clock, he's the second owner from new, don't think he told me how much he paid for it but I do remember him saying it was worth around £22,500.00 and that was a couple of years ago. Stupid money really for something he's too frightened and can't afford to drive anywhere.

I saw Gavin (H100VW) fit one of his looms to my C earlier this year. Took him 10 mins, most of which was spent looking up and talking to me!

I thought about that one but the alram manual says it has it's own battery back up, suppose it can't hurt to try. I'll let you know in about ten mins. Was going to PM you on this as you are a bit of an electrical wizard!.

My C has the above alarm fitted, done back in '03 by the previous owner. Today while re-fitting my speakers the alarm tripped. Keys were in the ignition but I had not started the engine, so after ten mins the system armed then went off as the drivers door and tailgate were open. I cancelled the alarm with the key still in the ignition and went back to doing what I was doing with out thinking any more of it. Took another half hour to take the drivers door card off and re-connect the door speaker and re-seat the window and runner which had fallen off, window now works perfectly :D Decided to go and fill up with fuel for the rest of the week and ... nothing,Na da, nowt , zilch! Ignition lights come on but when I turn the key to fire her up I just get a load of clicking from the dash, a bit of buzzing from what I assume is the fuel pump near the tank and a similar sound from the engine bay. Checked the alarm conditions and it's telling me the ignition circuit was activated. Now I just can't disarm the imobiliser. I can set the system but not totally disarm it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially as i have to get to work quite early tomorrow!

I agreed with jimsG60, put the ba****s in stocks and humiliate them , then I'd go a step further and chop off their nuts to stop them infecting the gene pool with any more lowlife scum. And I AM SERIOUS. I've lost about six HU over the last ten years to twats like this and no, it does not matter what security I've had. Once had a face off Pioneer HU, took it off, put it in it's box and locked it in the glove box, s**s could not get to the HU so trashed the inside of my car, (was a Rover 827 Sterling at the time) slashed the leather with a screw driver. and still nicked the back end of the HU from the dash. God they REALLY p**s me of. I would end up doing time if I ever caught one in the act.

I had this when I got my 1.8 16v a year ago. John Mitchell pointed out it was probably the recall valve that had seazed. I did a bypass with a couple bits of copper tube and some jubilee clips and have had a lovely warm feeling ever since :D No leaks for me but I believe it was more of a precautionary measure for most rather than a must have.Check the pipes between the engine and the valve, just by the bulkhead, if they are warm/hot and the pipes going through the bulkhead after the valve are cold, it's sounds like the same problem I had. Couple of quid for bits and 15-20 mins to fix.

I remember just over a year ago having a look at a website where you could choose what car you wanted alloys for, click the next button and up came a side on view of said car. you could then choose an approximate colour for the car and then you went on to select different wheels and see what they would look like on the car. It was not tied to any particular brand of wheel, and their prices were not that fantastic, but it gave a good impression of which new wheels would suit the car/your taste. Can't for the life of me find it now. Does this ring any bells with anyone else? If so, and you can remember the URL please post it up here and I think if the Mods could make it a sticky would save a hell of a lot of hunting round

I use mine as a daily driver, 13k + miles per year, so no classic insurance options for me. Just had my renewal notice in....£360.00 with 4 yrs NCB , £150 excess, legal cover, the usual stuff. I'm 36, live in a reasonable area, the car is not garaged but on the drive. Its a 91 1.8 16valver btw.

No longer for sale - decided to keep her and lavish a few mods over time. First step replace the brakes, they're terrible!

Won't be doing the work myself :oops: Don't have the knowledge or the patience. I just know I have to replace everything "at the wheels" so to speak and have browsed the GSF cat for the parts. Did'nt think about the bearings or carrier bolts :oops: ANy ideas on how much I should be looking at for fitting?

Time to replace the brakes, i.e. discs, pads, calipers and hoses. Now I've found all the part numbers in the GSF catalogue except for the calipers. They don't seem to list any for the Corrado. I'm going with the Brembo discs, front and rear along with Pagid pads. Any ideas on the correct part No. for the calipers? Also I've read a few times on here if sticking with standard brake setup it's best to stick with VAG parts. Are they vastly more expensive, if not where can I find the part No's I need? Cheers in advance.

Oil levelis fine. It was a beep not a buzz!

Couple of times today I got a beep from the dash when going round a round-a-bout. They were not particularly tight but I did take them faster than normal, 15-20mph. It's happened twice now, no other signs of anything being wrong just this beep as I turned right. Tried doing the same on a carpark going left and right but nothing. Confused :scratch:

Cheers chaps. Phil - Yup still got the dent :( never seem to find the time or cash to get it sorted. The wheels are the same, just cleaned! It's currently up for sale as I'm looking at a Nissan 300ZX TT which I test drove today. I have not smiled so wide or for so long for a long time. Beats the C but then it's a different kind of car altogether. Just wish I could afford to keep the C as my daily driver and have the Z for fun, but I think that would end up in the divrce courts!
