g60 holding back in 4th and 5th gear? help is urgent
unitfight replied to unitfight's topic in Engine Bay
exhaust is fine :) took it down the motorway flat out and noticed when it goes flat, the boost guage drops massively!! isv valve it is, anyone got a spare?? -
cant find an electrical connector anywhere!! im thinking maybe it was cut out of the loom, spliced together then taped up or something! out with the dash bulb it is then!!!
-
basically my car has sold, but driving it home last night, in 4th and 5th gear while nailing it, it went completely flat!!! as soon as i let off the throttle, then floored it again it was ok?? kept doing this i noticed when it goes flat, sounds really quiet at the exhuast?? could this be caused by a collapsed exhaust box? i also noticed marks out of the breather filter on the idle control valve, could it be blowing boost back through that?? please help, its going at weekend!
-
sorry. water temp, pressure and level is all spot on
-
i have a different expansion tank with no sensor. im not overly sure where the sensor is to be honest? has been fine for the last 2 years as it is
-
For some reason, the red coolant light on my dash has started flashing and im a bit stuck?? which sensor on the engine would controll this? for some reason, it came on after i fitted a new ecu chip, could this be related?
-
had my charger rebuilt by jabba. £310 and had it back on my engine within 10 days!! excellent service anyway, to the chase, just finished running in my charger and im now getting healthy readings of 14-15 psi full throttle  solved my boost problem, but digi-lag is at its element now still running standard chip. one on order though

yep! sorry, should of posted it in this section first. its a group a couple of us started on facebook for anything and everything G powered. if anyones interested, join up! post some pics and introduce yourselves. we need numbers for the rolling road day, so anyones welcome
-
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE G FORCE FACEBOOK GROUP we are organising a rolling road day at jabbasport for early april, on a saturday. £35 per vehicle for 3 runs and bbq etc! only thing is that their rollers dont take stupidly low cars. need numbers people, get involved!!!! steve

the arz geartowers are pricey! any cheaper alternatives :)
-
lol! i dont get that problem cause my 'G' is in a caddy van!! no one wants to go the rails against a van with a huge postman pat softtoy in the passenger seat  love my sleeper :) suprised an impreza the other day
-
will tend to that. but im still warey of the actual plug/socket being loose? i have a spare dizzy at work, so might play around tommorrow and compare it with the one on my engine. cheers fellas
-
i dont take it beyond 3.5k on cold. i mean its responsive and neck jerking upto that even without flooring it. dont do it too often as its still running cold start at that stage and makes me sobb watching the fuel guage creep. still never red-lined my 'G' dont worry nimjed, my 'G' is in safe hands....take care of it more than my preggers wife :)
-
king lead was ok. the electrical connector on the dizzy is actually quite loose in the housing!? might rip it to bits and see if connections have gone brittle and shite internally
-
Gave my car a little blatt after work and when i parked up, it just turned itself off. then it would crank over but not fire!?? scanned for any obvious problems in the bay, nothing. thought it may have been my coil as it wasnt sparking, but i gave the electrical connector on the dizzy a wiggle and it fired back into life! was this just coincidence, or are the dizzys a common problem??
-
oh dear  worded wrong... when i 'accelerate' from cold should i say. so much more responsive and pokey!
-
some amazingly usefull stuff there yandard! will check that company out about the mapping. i was looking at jabbasport custom code remap but they are more pennies :( was looking at SNS chips, as they configure the chip to suit your setup. obviousley wouldnt be 100 percent as each engine has different characteristics, but ive heard they are very good for the money!! £100 + p&p
-
have a look at the supercharger belt and tensioner. if the tensioner or belt are knackered, it would be fine revving it up on the spot creating the boost, but when booting it up the road (on load) it could be slipping. check for wear around the edge of the belt, that will show you if its been slipping
-
didnt know that the co pot doesnt controll fueling on WOT!? handy to know, nice one. yeah i do get the standard digi-lag, but i get the flat spots intimitantley also when booting it. i replaced the ecu vaccum hose already. 1m EXACTLY! already tested the throttle switches and they are ok. set up the timing spot on the other day. hmmmm.....im still running standard ecu chip :) i keep meaning to get in contact with sns! that could probably be my problem!! im sticking it on the emmisions tester tommorrow to see if its running rich or lean on throttle. will see what happens! cheers for the help chaps

anyone know what the resistance of the knock sensor should be? gonna go round my whole engine bay with a multimeter today.....fun. test every sensor and carry out continuity checks on as many wires as i can! as my engine is in a caddy van, although a superb conversion, tampering with frail old wires may have cause a break somewhere. im thinking maybe on the WOT switch loom. anyway, off to work!
-
annoyingly its my daily, so gotta find a week off to get it sorted! ran 8psi today :(
-
tested my throttle switches, they are ok! lamda came up good on the lambda probe tester. will try the resistance on the co pot, but they are near impossible to buy new arent they?? someone say knock sensor?? mines not pinking at all, timing is spot on to, could it still be that??
-
thought it may be the WOT switch so i replaced them with a 2nd hand set. admitidaly they may be duff to! but a new set is expensive. i havnt actually tested them since they have been fitted actually?? how would a big valve head and cam eat boost?? especially when the boost reading is taken from the inlet manifold? oh, and only made about 9psi of boost today. christmas bonus = supercharger recon!
-
sounds exactly like my g60! mine is especially bad in 3rd and 4th gear like what you said at 4k revs when you floor it! i thought it may be the throttle switches, i replaced mine with a 2nd hand set but no joy. my fuel pressure is good boost holds at 10psi i dont think the charger belt is slipping so im holding it down to spark or fueling. maybe dizzy or coil?? or fueling side could be injectors, CO pot, lambda, or map sensor which i heard is capped to 1bar limit on some models?? also....mine runs REALLY well when i first boot it from cold. i guess because cold start is still engaged. IF ANYONE COULD SHED LIGHT ON THIS YOU WOULD MAKE ME AND THIS CHAP VERY HAPPY INDEED

was last serviced in 2002! thats why i thought it could be the apex seals, thats a good 8 yrs ago! was gonna send it off for rebuild anyway, just wanted to know what boost figures i should get. also, my mate thinks its a 72mm pulley i have o there? would the figures be about right for that pulley?
