  1. Having a mechanical background already, I was considering purchasing a rebuild kit for my g60 supercharger and rebuilding it myself. I'm not interested it getting it ported or anything to sophisticated. Just new bearings and fresh lube. Has anyone every attempted this and how would you rate it on difficulty? Also, while I had my g-laser out, I was going to replace the infamous crank bolt that seems to cause so much trouble. Any way to come across one cheap would be fantastic!
  2. very useful post. i think a hybrid like that is beyond my VW knowledge at this point. maybe somewhere far along in the future. right now im just focusing on finding a rebuilt 1.8 g60 shortblock to start my journey. something significantly younger than my current engine to have something reliable to work with. and it will all be fun from there out. :norty:
  3. All very useful information. Thank you sir. And instead of rebuilding the bottom end and possibly having to get the block machined, do you know where i can purchase short blocks for these cars? Ive heard of BBM but they dont offer a 1.8 short block and they want atlleast 3000 for a 1.8 longblock! And thats is beyond my budget. I just want short block in good condition to replace my current old timer [nearly 300,000k], and take up to 200 hp as daily driver
  4. Thats sounds like a brilliant idea! But do you think it would be wise though on a car with such high mileage? [200000k+] And also. What all is involved with a remap on these? Im more used to OBDII Hondas than I am with these. Tbh, I'm totally clueless when it comes to engine tuning on the Rado's, or just VW's in general :cuckoo:
  5. This topic can be ignored fellas! I failed to notice the locked thread all about different sections of the exhaust and reviews on them. Sorry about that gents. :epicfail:
  6. Ok. Thank you. That makes perfect sense. Would it be smarter then to just stick with the 8v head? I'm trying to think of smart HP improvement aside from boosting the chargers PSI [because its such an old engine with high mileage]. Primary concerns right now tbh are just improving the exhaust along with the audio system. Everything else will be tended to if the car pulls through long enough
  7. Curious as to whether or not a 16v non-supercharged head be swapped with the G60 8v head? I have an 89 Corrado G60 8v and I cannot seem to find alot of information on the 89 Corrado's anywhere. Seems I happen to purchase the misfit Rado! And being new to the scene has left me out of the loop when it comes to swaps and any other modification information. :bonk:
  8. I'm looking to replace the entire exhaust system in my 89 Rado G60 but there doesnt seem to be a wide variety out there! I'm planning on doing in complete from a header, to a high flow cat, all the way down the entire exhaust system. A complete replacement. What I'm mainly looking for are tips on good companies to buy from and who actually makes all these parts! And another question I'm hoping to get a good answer for is how bad for breaking are the bolts holding in the exhaust manifold?? I honestly dont want to order everything and finally go to pull the manifold off only to find the bolts broken off inside the block! Thank you for any input you gentlemen can offer :notworthy:
