  1. ---------- Post added at 12:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:52 AM ---------- Regarding the steering wheel bit of an interesting one that, obviously something that was not fitted to any uk corrado earlier g60 or later models, i believe it may be similar to that fitted to the earlier mk3 golf/vento gti's or vr6 if leather and if remember correctly from some european press literature on the corrado where it was pictured in brochures and the like it may be actually original to the cars available over on the continent, love the colour its a bit different for a rado - banded wheels look cool too:cool:

Hi mate, sounds like a tricky one if its electrically related, quite often when after market alarms are fitted it can leed to problems down the line, it could just be related to a loose connection in the loom somewhere where it has been messed about with in the past as you mention with the keyless door handle. I had a similar problem turn out to be a faulty central locking pump- easy fix tho. The only thing i can suggest if your not handy with car electrics is to get a specialist electrician but could be pricey. i would certainly suggest picking up another door handle - a genuine one with key barrell- ebay perhaps, then you can work it of the key next time... see if you can remove the grab handle from inside and carefully pull away door card from top to see if you can gain excess a little better to the mechanism....the only other thing is check for dodgy wiring inside side of footwell where loom comes through door...you could also try dissconnecting and reconnecting the pump drivers side rear boot area to see if that will reset things... keep me posted
  3. Nice one mate. Good to see that an early one is being saved and has interest in it!:thumbleft: not gonna be many early ones left soon. I have to 2 early models and love them with the smaller bonnets and narrow wings and like the grills and switch gear inside too, hopefully it will pay off for you too especially if you decide to keep her a little while as soon i dont think you will find many decent early models, i know that prices have been hit hard recently but hopefully in a few more years the amount that have been brokon will have dropped and the good ones that are left will increase in price so dont think your wasting your time. Finger crossed. Great colour to was available in g60 spec too i believe will look great with fresh paint! dark plum pearl love it! gotta to be one of the best colours! yep smoke side repeaters would look good! moderately lowered on some stock style g60 bbs or rx2's would look awsome agree rear badges need to be back to original and oem chrome vw badges too will give some contrast against drker body work. good luck! keep up the good work.
  4. yep the one i got fitted is a pilkington was a bit concerned at first now the sekurit ones are obsolete however im very pleased with it, tint is the same shade as the rest of the glass, quality looks good of the car, wipers clear spot on and the blacked out area of lower screen is of identical pattern to sekurit, screen came complete with all identical trim x 2 solid side pieces which simon and steve bonded to screen the evening before they came to fit it also perimeter seal was also included however i kept this as spare and they reused the vw one which was in good condition and already shaped to fit. Apparently pilkington do a massive range of screens for classics and will make one off screens for kit cars/customised cars so should'nt be a problem getting hold of them for a while to come, they were also contracted by Rolls Royce to be fitted from factory and believe those motors have good rep for quality so thats good enough for my little rado. Some of the US corrado guys actually rate them over the originals and they are all E' marked so all good in my opinion. Insurance wise i just contacted mine before i spoke to autoplus guys to make sure i could use an alternative fitter to there approved one, no problem paid my excess to simon and they will claim the rest back there end. Easy just made sure i provided plenty of cups of tea..lol The main thing is quality of the fitment its self and checking for corrosion before hand as kip and VAG have mentioned so that you dont get problems further down the line. It took 4 hours to do mine properly with no corrosion issues by someone who has done it many times before so just be concerned with anyone who says it can be done quicker.

Windscreen done today and must say what a fantastic job done, took 4 hours in total but bonnet didnt release properly at one point another little job to look at but all went well after that, proof that a little more time taken will do it well! no corrosion issues either all looked like new after the old screen was out, all seals line up well and wipers cover perfect, all lower trim panels back wth new clips unbroken. Simon certainly knows his stuff and with all his experience with working on classics and cars that need a little more time taken on - his attention to detail did not go unnoticed. If ever requiring a quality windscreen job these guys are the ones to go for, i can certainly recommend thats until next week the screen drops out after driving off down the road, only joking...lol Have taken a few pics of finshed job, car a bit mucky after being stored in garage all winter however will get a few more pics up in members gallery as soon as the better weather comes - thanks again for the advice!

Cool good to here, spoke to them today damm sure i will be using these guys just after a short telephone call they certainly seem to know about the cars they are looking into sourcing a genuine one but if not the pickington or similar should be fine im sure, will have a look when screen is out that all is good.. gonna get it booked in asap me finks 100 excess through classic insurance aswell very reasonable.

Cheers guys and thanks kip! will give them a buz 2mrw, hopefully they can sort a sekurit and yep bet there a load somewhere on someones shelfs its just finding them.. lol i will let you know how i get on... i'm interested if they will use the old rubbers or not as well... hopefully it will not be to stressfull after reading some of the old horror stories on here it puts the wind up you a bit...   8. just in the process of recommisioning my early corrado, its in lovely condition and low mileage, looking forward to the spring and summer use. I have noticed a small crack/ chip and it now requires a new windscreen hhowever after contacting my mate at vw dealers the screen became obsolete last year proper bugger as the car is such a good example she deserves a genuine screen fitting an believe they where about 220 quids when availabe.. proper guttered as trying to keep her original. Vw seem to have dropped a lot of genuine parts for the corrado just over the past 12months a real shame cus these are a fantastic cars.. i live in sheffield southyorkshire, i hope to get a new screen fitted after i have finshed the other work on her in the next month or so... any ideas where i can get a genuine Sekurit screen? specialists, old stock? etc.. if not the best pattern one which is available and can any one suggest the best place to get the work done in sheffield as i want it done properly.. no hassle...i love my car and dont want it messing up it appears the screen fitted is the original one so im hoping no rust underneath issues alreading taken of the 3 piece lower trims and obtained some spare clips for refit, will the windscreeen techs just reuse the trims as the screens are bonded and i believe they are obsolete now to Any advice much appreciated, worrying a bit bout this... many thanks jules

I currently own a lovely early original spec corrado which im in the process of tinkering with to bring her up to tip top condition before she comes out of the garage again for some spring/summer fun. I have noticed a slight crack/chip on drivers side front windscreen and i now require a new windscreen fitting probably get this done in a month or so after finishing of some of the other work... After contacting my mate at the Vw dealer the OEM screens were dropped last year - No longer available bit of a bugger really as my corrado is really low mileage and one owner currently still has the original Sekurit screen fitted and doesnt appear to ever of had a replacement. She is such a nice car really deserves a genuine screen and believe after looking at previous posts they where only about 220 quids when last available... i would really like to fit a genuine screen to her, has any one got any ideas where i can get one from or does any one know anywhere who has some old stock or anything? specialist etc..also if i have to have a Patern part fitted which make is best? and what company would you recommend for fitting? i live in south yorksire sheffield area... also do the windscreen techs just re-use the genuine trims as i know the screens are bonded but can all the old trims be reused? as that could be another problem..real ****ter that so many of the genuine parts are now becoming obsolete for these fantastic cars all just in the past year or so aswell.. I have already removed the 3 piece lower hard plastic trims and obtained some original clips for refitting Any ideas or advice much appreciated as im very fond of my rado and im scratching my head trying to decide whats best.. many thanks jules i have already removed the 3 piece
