^^ This happens every time I drive for longer than 30minutes. 'yer if the water is not getting around the engine .does your heater blow hot air' ^^ I only get hot air after long journeys and thats just heat from the engine. I have no 'blow' no power from my fans... Thanks for all of this guys can't wait to show my mechanic/mate all this input!

What blocked heater matrix would effect engine temperature and oil temps ?

Nope not yet. Any easy ways of testing the water pump ? or marks/ signs of it gone?? Price to change ££ ? xx

Here's a wee list of problems that I would LOVE some advice on getting fixed/ Look at / DONE. I still have problems with over heating despite fan fix , and head gasket fix - Radiator? New Fan ? bigger fan ?, i was in a bit of traffic sat, during the heavy sunshine but still only for 30-mins. Fan came on but didn't cool much if at all (had to pull over) No working engine temp- Mate said it all looks fine under bonnet maybe electrical problems behind dials etc, advice? I have problems with oil temperature (Oil light comes on and beeps for around 5-10 minutes, turning engine off then on turns it off- making me think it might just be a dash board problem) So basically they're all heating problems with the engine getting too hot! any way we can test different areas to get results on what bits arn't working? Please any advice no big or small wanted. cheers guys (love this forum) Carl.

He checked everything under the bonnet and said it all looked fine... Would the sensor just need replacing?

I know right. £260 later. One dodgy MOT and a new, quiet, faster engine!! ENGINE TEMP STILL DON"T WORK :( He said he looked into my engine temp gauge and he said it all looks fine in the engine. Dashboard issue maybe?

Not sure if anyone remembers my post about my head gasket going, fixing it myself - Selling it etc etc well! A friend ran a compression & sniff test on her and it was returning poor results despite no obvious signs of gasket problems, So he took the head off the engine and some tool hand't torked all the bolts back on right so It looked broke but actually just needed a new fan start motor to keep her cool and the bolts tightened correctly! + MOT now means my car is back on the road! aAhhhhhhh :) :) :)

Leonard and shaun. You are both right. I want a VR- But not yet, sean is right, i need this to be my training wheels on opening up my first rado! + my insurance will be a bitch on a VR + tax must be mega considering mine is hefty on a 2.0 ! Don't worry. I'll join the VR crew one day !

So I got a friend who's going to go halfs on me on the Corrado Manual (yellow) any idea where i can source one?. So to get to the head gasket do I need to get an engine crane and pull the exhaust off, or can I just access the headgasket from taking the head off ? Obviously being a complete novice I don't really want to explore just yet. davidwort Made it sound a bit less intimidating!

Ok so i've sent my friend and fellow corrado owner who's going to let me park the car in his private garage and I wrote this: "How would you feel if I bought a Haynes manual, some new tools, some jacks, and we use my car a learning vehicle for Corrados ? The guys on the forum are really pushing at how I should just give it a go doing it myself! " So if I get the go ahead: Where and what haynes do I buy? What tools do i need? Car jacks or engine crane etc? This will be a weekend project. anything else I need? I'm actually pretty excited! I love fiddling with **** and fixing stuff, I just will forget where to put it all back!! Thanks to Wullie for his wise words... and seanl82 I'll let you guys know the score!

On a scale of one to ten how hard would it be to fix the head gasket ? I have a friend who's offered to let me park it in a garage while I save money for fix or fix myself.

It was my daily yes. Now she's my dead daily that = train every day! - This links back to me getting rid, saving up for a daily newish golf or something then getting a vr6 in a year or two! save up the pennies!

OK SO everyone let me just make a few things clear- The news was vague - and I wasn't charged for the windscreen wiper fixed so it was free but what he did say was: The head gasket has gone but it still runs- Expensive + chances are that there is damage done from overheating as my engine temp never worked- as you've had no engine temp for a while it could mean burns etc further into the engine- getting the engine temperature gauge up and running more £££ the coolant pipes/ thingy will need changing- the heater matrix needs fixing to get heaters working again- front body work - £200 best quote so far all in all about £1000. Ontop of that my gearbox will go soon, I can feel it! Clutch is **** ... I'm a little annoyed that all of you assume that just because i'm contemplating saying goodbye all of a sudden re-values my role on here as an enthusiast! I've wanted a f***ng Corrado since I was about 15 ! I have NO... I mean ZERO mechanical capabilities and no where to carry out any work inside the hood... I'm therefore still torn between giving up, and getting another motor saving up more money and getting another rado later in life... Or reading what you guys post and taking it to a recommended garage while it still runs and has an MOT till aug' So again... Any garages I can call around Essex area Northeast london (Romford,basildon, preferably) Maybe declare off the road, save some money, get it all done in one BOOM .... Please don't reply like I don't give a ****, this is not just a car to me she's my baby, its not a vr its a valver + my finances are ****ed so this decision doesn't come easy! I was un-employed for 6months before my current job still lots of dept and **** floating about! anyway, thankyou everyone so far for saying what i needed to hear. ^^ I'll wait till i get the full diagnostics back tommorow and post in here, he quoted 600+my 200 body damage + two new front tires + mot next month + whatever else he finds. Thats not a couple of quid! I only paid 1200 !

SO I payed 1200. MOT in 20 days. Head gasket gone. worth fixing? Or sell on here/ as broken for parts ... How much would i get if sold as 'for breaking' the engine runs ok so I could sell as seen .... Thoughts ? Need some serious advice guys... sad times.

My windscreen wiper arm (inside engine bag) pops off when I re-attatch to the bolt that moves the blades. Advice, fix, repair ? Anyone shed some light for me please
