  1. All sorted and back to running how it should.

Turned out to be what I thought and hoped it was.

Messing around with the fuses in the engine bay and I didn't put them back in the right place.

Fuse 13 was missing, this is for the Engine Control Module and Fuse 23 missing, this is for the N75 Valve, the N80 Valve and the DV.

There was a very worrying moment when the codes were read and it came back with just about every possible engine error!

Replaced the fuses and everything is now back to normal.

This will teach me to be messing around with electrics in the dark!!

Want to say a massive thank you to MAT ED30 who came over to mine with his VCDS, he went out of his way to help me. Top, top bloke.

  2. I'm hopefully getting the codes read on Wednesday, so hopefully this will at least give me a general idea of what's going on.

It shouldn't be a problem related to the cam follower, as this was changed for a brand new one on Saturday. The car was driving absolutely fine up until I started messing around with the radio wiring and fuses. Like an idiot, I didn't disconnect the battery whilst I was doing this. So I'm hoping that I just tripped something with my clumsy attempts!

  3. Main thing to check with them is coilpacks, check any vacuum hoses as well. Theres a plastic corrugated hose (think it was a breather hose near front right, you need toi take engine cover off) at the front of the that had cracked on ours Skoda (same engine) and it was low on power, wouldn't rev etc.

Best thing is fault code read to start with.

Thanks mate. Luckily a member of the mk5golfgti.co.uk forum has said that he will scan the codes on the car for me on Wednesday, so will hopefully get to the bottom of it then.

I've got my fingers crossed that it's just linked to me farting around with the fuse box, hopefully just needs the codes clearing and resetting.

Turns out that the member on the golf forum who was kind enough to say he will help me is also a member on here as well, has a Corrado VR alongside his Golf.

  4. I have an EPC and engine warning light on, the car also won't rev past 3k and has almost no power at all.

It's a 2005 GTI. I have been trying to put a different radio in the car today but it wouldn't turn on.

I decided to check the fuse box in the engine bay to see if any of the fuses had blown. I pulled them out 1 by 1 to check them, but none of them had blown.

Would pulling out the fuses cause the warning lights to come on and the engine lose power? I think it's gone into something called limp mode?

Anybody got a picture of their gti's engine bay fuse box? so I can compare it to mine to make sure I've put the fuses back in the right position!

Is there anybody close to the Bradford area that has VCDS?

Somebody please help, I've only had the car 1 week and it has been running fine right up until I messed with the fuse box.

I'm now terrified I've got a big repair bill.

    Thank you

  5. U mean I am the SECOND person?

But, I got proof u said "u have someONE seeing tomorrow" and not "SomeONE(s)!"

    LOL

Right, I am 5mins from where u are, I will CAMP outside your garage until 11am (and then scare the 2 buyers off!)

Cool, you can take my dogs out for their night walk whilst you're there, saves me a job!

  6. Sounds like it might be ideal.

I have somebody coming tomorrow at 11am who seems very interested, I then have a 2nd person who said he wants it if the 1st doesn't buy it.

There's also somebody possibly coming to see it on Sunday morning.

So we'll see what tomorrow brings, if the first two people don't take it, I could always drop you a text or something.

  7. Honestly don't know about not been able to reply to For Sale threads. Guessing it's to stop extra long threads starting and clogging up the Classifieds section.

No leaks on the car, doesn't yes any water or oil.

It has rotary controls as it's a '95 model. The direction control is stuck, but luckily it's stuck on the windscreen direction.

To be honest, the car as far from perfect and the bodywork lets it down, but at the end of the day it's a £500 car. If somebody was to spend £500 on a cheap runaround, they're not gonna get as cool a car as a Corrado!

  8. VW Corrado 8v - ?500

I have just bought a MK5 Golf GTI. So I'm putting my Corrado 2.0 8V up for sale. It's a 1995 model with 132k miles. Classic Green. Black cloth interior.

To be honest the bodywork is not in brilliant condition. There are bits of surface rust, scratches, stone chips and some patches of poor paint.

Underneath it is solid, no holes etc.

Mechanically it is fine and it runs great.

The car has AP coilovers that are around 2 years old.

It has a Cat back stainless steel exhaust, with oval tailpipe, which comes with a transferable lifetime guarantee. The exhaust sounds really good, but not boomy on the motorway etc.

    Fitted with Lupo GTI wipers.

The car has fully refurbed headlights that I bought off somebody on the forum last summer. It also has the uprated wiring loom.

The car also comes with 2 sets of wheels. BBS RS 764 - 6.5x16, 2 piece split rims. They have silver lips with powder coated dark grey centres. 4 excellent Vredestein Sportrac5 tyres (covered approx 3k miles). These are the wheels I use in Summer.

It also comes with a set of 16" Borbet Cs. These have been powder coated cream. There are a few kerb marks. These also have 4 excellent Vredestein Sportrac5 tyres (again, covered approx 3k miles). These are the wheels I use in winter.

I've also got some M3 style clear/red rear lights that I can throw in if wanted.

Also got the old headlights, just need a bit of a clean up and a new reflector in one of the units (I have the reflector).

The sunroof both tilts and slides and the rear spoiler works as it should.

I've had the car for just over 4 years and it's never caused me any problems or headaches, been very reliable in this time.

The only real issues are with the bodywork, but as I have just been using it as a runaround I didn't really want to spend any money on paint etc.

It also has one of the wheel bearings on the way out, sounds like the n/s/r one, it has only just started making the droning sound so it's still fine to drive.

The car will suit somebody who wants a cheap runaround that is still a very cool car. Or maybe somebody to run it as a winter car whilst their VR6 or G60 is tucked away.

I had the car on classic car insurance through HIC and even living in Bradford which is one of the most expensive places in the UK to insure a car, it only cost me ?250 fully comp for the year.

I'm not after a lot of money for her and to be honest the exhaust, coilovers, wheels, refurbed headlights and Lupo wipers on their own are worth more than my asking price.

I just don't want to be forced to scrap her as she's been a reliable, fun and very cool car to live with. Even with bodywork and paint as it is, she still turns heads all the time.

I will be very sad to see her go, but I can't afford to run 2 cars.

Hopefully she can now bring a bit of joy to somebody else.

The car is MOT'd until June, but the tax expired at the end of Feb, so test drives might be a problem but I'm sure something could be sorted out.

The car is in Bradford, I can be contacted by message through the forum for viewings etc.

So come on, surely the old girl is worth ?500 to somebody?

I will be taking some pictures over the weekend that I can email to anybody who wants them.
