  1. Maybe I shouldn't of mentioned that as an example...... I'll get my coat.
  2. LOL, I can see what you mean STORM2, the M Coupe's got a similar shape to the Scimitar!! I'll never look at one in the same way
  3. And that's the point where I'd soil myself and fall off the back of the thing
  4. You can't really beat the performance of a bike- a guy at work was selling an old CBR600 for £1200 I was tempted but I like the thought of staying dry whilst chasing £40k cars
  5. Yeah, that made me laugh.... he was saying that the M3 would have him top-end no question but the Pug was more or less ''staying in touch'' below 80mph.... I just replied saying that I missed the part in the Pug's spec where it said it could do 0-60 in around 5 seconds....
  6. Without wanting to start a 'this car's faster than this car' thread, I thought I'd tell you guys about a nice tussle a friend and I were in coming back from the 'Burnin' B'mouth' show last night. A mate of mine bought a 206 180 around six months ago- unfortunately he's the type of guy who competes at everything- he's got a faster car than you, he's stronger than you, he has more teeth than you, he can dry off when getting out of the shower quicker than you etc.... So since buying the 180 he's been telling me about every single race or incident with any other performance car he's had- he told me a little while ago that he didn't think E46 M3s were that fast as he managed to stay in touch with one  Anyway, I was a passenger in his Pug last night as we drove back from the car show, he was making progress down the dual carriage way toward the M27 in a bid to be first to the pub (he must win), we ended up having to slow down for a Black C sitting in the outside lane who'd also been at the show (reg K*** FUW). As the dual carriage way merged into motorway my mate dropped a couple of cogs and made a dash for the outside lane, the C let him go and promptly pulled out behind us... We seemed to pull a few lengths on him as we passed 120mph, the speedo (moving slower and slower) gradually edged over 130 whilst I was looking over my shoulder to see the Black C munching up the gap we had created. We almost hit 135 as my mate shouted ''He's got me! He's got me!!''- he pulled the Pug into the middle lane as the Corrado just roared on..... It was great to see the smile wiped of his face by an eleven yr old VW- Needless to say he was pretty quiet down the pub! Long live the C 8) NB: Above incident occurred on special private sector of M27... obviously.
  7. Went to look at my first C VR last weekend, it had done 140k miles but it was local so I thought there'd be no harm in having a look, I must admit, I was surprised at how the bodywork had lasted on this thing- you could tell it had been very well looked after and the engine was sweet as a nut, no rattles or knocks. The owner took me out for a test drive; it pulled like a train and handled like one too.... To be honest, I was tempted to put a deposit on it, but I think I want one with less miles really, so am going to keep looking but overall I was very impressed with how the C had taken it's 140k life so far, and I think I'll be a happy chappy when I get my hands on one :)
  8. I think that's a great idea! I'm looking for my first C at the moment and most of the ones I've been looking at in the Trader etc.... are a fair distance away and most ot the time it's difficult to tell just from the ad whether the car will be worth the trip......
  9. Glad you posted that...... Was beginning to wonder whether I'd made the right choice  I think if you're buying any ''old'' car with the performance of the C VR you've got to expect some repair bills to keep it running as it should, it's just will the car justify the cost of the ownership that goes with it and I'm hoping it will :) I used to own an old Fiesta XR2i, you'd think that with a little four-pot engine and cheap parts that it wouldn't be too expensive to maintain, but I ended up replacing a CV boot or two, a ball joint and a few relays every year, that coupled with the fact that the alternator and starter not lasting very long I got hacked off with it very quickly, especially when it left me stranded at a job interview  On the RX8 subject; I think they're developing a bit of a cheesy image already, I've seen a few in Southampton driven by yuppy types and that was enough to put me off!
  10. Interesting topic :) I'm looking for a VR at the moment too, I've got around £5k to spend and I'm faced with the choice of get one now for what money I've got, or wait a few months till I've got around £6k......... I'm driving a Civic Coupe at the moment which is obviously cheap as chips to run and insure but it's boring me to death...... I want to get that feeling back where you have the desire to get in your car just for a drive, the Civic doesn't inspire me to do that at all...... So I'm after some advice really- do I go for a VR at around £4.5K and have money left over to do some tidying or do I risk dying of boredom with the Honda while I save for a minter C....? Oh, and PS. Sorry Corrado-VR6 for Hijacking
  11. I think my ideal passenger would have to be Louise Glover...... I've got a thing for tanned brunnettes at the moment and she is a cracking example. Wouldn't object to Ali Bastian taking a ride with me though
  12. Hi lads, On Saturday afternoon I saw a green rado on a 'K' plate, big chrome rims (18s i think) travelling towards Fawley on the Marchwood by-pass....... one of the nicest modded corrados i've seen..... be interested to know if it was anyone from here.
