for sale Yellow 1.8 16v for £2000 in Cardiff
helen baynham posted a topic in Cars for Sale [Corrado]
1.8 16v | Yellow | Cardiff Price: £1500 Description: 1990 H reg 1.8 16v yellow Corrado. I've owned this car for ten years but, as it's my second car and rarely used, I've decided to sell it to someone who would get more use and fun from it than I do. It passed it's MOT last month so has only driven a couple of miles since then. It has 5 months tax. I've spent £1000s on this car over the years, within the last 20,000 miles it has had a complete engine rebuild, had new back axle bushes, track rod ends, starting stuff (coil, distributor, plugs etc), new heater matrix and more than I can remember. It has been finished off with a fantastic respray in the original colour and is completely unmarked. It also has a yellow/orange front CD player that goes really well with the car. There were a couple of advisories: slight play in top suspension bush and a minor leak in central section of exhaust. I have now had the exhaust fixed, it was a bracket, so all the advisories have been addressed except for the suspension bush and that was not critical. The only other bad bits I know of are a cracked front skirt (the black thing under the bumper) and some wear to driver's seat bolster. It has 178,000 miles on the clock, starts and runs beautifully, is a real head turner and I want it to go to a good home (more important than price) Please contact me for any further info. -
Hi! Thanks a lot! Its now my second car; looking forward to better weather so I can put some tax on it and bring it out of the garage for a spin. Yes, it was probably mine. Think there was one in Caerphilly but as far as I know there are no others in Cardiff. Would love someone's opinion of the yellow 1.8 currently for sale on Autotraders. A garage in Bristol has one that looks really good, low mileage and the price has been dropped to £1599! Sooo tempted but guess one is enough! ---------- Post added at 7:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:12 PM ---------- Hi! Thanks a lot! Hope this works; I've just attached a better photo of my car.

Has anyone seen the yellow Corrado advertised on Autotrader? Any comments? Tempted, though what I would do with two I don't know!
-
Yes I know but once they've been taken off, they are difficult to put back on. Probably need new ones!
-
Would be happy to email it to you but the photo isn't brilliant - it was taken in the garage (I won't pull it out unless I can take it for a good 25 - 30 mile run)

Just tried to upload a photo without any success but thanks for your reply. VR6 Edit: There you go :)

I haven't been on here for a while but would like to pick some of your knowledgable brains! I've had an offer for my car of £2500 and having sleepless nights! On the accept side is - I no longer use it, it's not improving in the garage, no-one around anymore who can fix little niggles etc On the against side - they are getting rare, might go up in value, I've spent far more than 2500 on it and quite simply, I love having my garage full of sunshine. Do you think its a fair price for an MOT'd, professionally resprayed and spotless 1.8 yellow corrado?

Well put mine down as a nugget. Its definitely not jasmine. It lives in my garage (I'd have it in the house if I could) in Penarth, South Wales.

I've had another look at paint code and whilst it looks like LK16 it could be LK1B - it's so faded it could be anything! Will post photo up when I can. Are there really only 16 yellow C's left in UK? I used to see quite a few but then I don't see many of any colour now; guess there are all dying one by one. I've had people tap my window at traffic lights to tell me how much they like my car and one person startled me by running alongside giving me the thumbs up. C's are particularly beautiful and really stand out even though there's nothing flash about them. I had a white Scirocco Scala that I did 150K trouble-free miles in and its still going strong. My yellow MX5 is a 2000 Californian but thinking of changing it for something that runs on fresh air with zero tax. The joys of living in a recession :-(

No, mine's not that colour. Its a canary yellow, bit like the colour VW uses now for the Fox. Sorry to have started this off! Two yellow cars - don't know what that says about me. Like yellow cars I guess!

I don't think it was ever Nugget yellow - not unless it had a full body off respray before I bought it which I very much doubt as I've had it for years. I'm interested in this so if anyone knows of a different yellow being used, please let me know! The paint number in the boot is LK16 but there are also other numbers and I couldn't see too well upside down in the corner of the garage. 1168 43-2-7025 310ER and X2B 1AB 1BE 3FQ. I've spoken to the man who sprayed it and he said he took the colour from the car and it matches the inside of engine bay, boot, door linings etc.

Its actually not Nugget yellow but a softer, paler shade I haven't seen on any other Corrado. I splashed out on a respray last year and the colour was taken off the number printed on the car. I always thought it was an after market colour but it obviously isn't. Do you know what colour this is and whether many were made in it? Its an H reg, 1.8 16V and beautiful.

Not sure I know what a Nugget C is. Is it a yellow Corrado? If so, I have one and its in South Wales.

Hi Tristan, thanks for your reply! I did try to PM you but not sure if I was successful or not. I know as much about navigating websites as I do about air intake problems! I would be SO grateful if you could take a look at my car if/when you have a moment. In case you didn't get my message with my mob number, my email address is [email protected]. -

Thanks for all your suggestions. As I know next to nothing about cars, I took it to local garage and they wanted £180 for rendering it undriveable and needing to be towed home. I insisted they returned it to how it was, high revving but driveable, which they reluctantly did. Anyway, it revs high when it's warm and can't really be driven. It seems no-one wants to look at it so my question is simple - does anyone know of a good Corrado man in the Cardiff/South Wales area? Thanks so much for any help - Helen -

John -Thanks very much for your help. Lots for my partner to work on but if all fails, I'll take it to the garage. I guess storing a car for 6 months is never a good idea (it started second time!) as things can perish. I posted a response earlier but it hasn't appeared on the thread and didn't want you to think I hadn't bothered answering! I had it resprayed last year in its original colour taken off the chassis. Strangely, its not nugget yellow but a paler softer yellow and wonder whether many cars were painted in this? I've never seen one in this colour before. -

Sorry - I'm new to all this and should have said. Yes, its 1.8 16v 1990 and yellow (though I'm sure that's irrelevant!) -
Hello! I'm new to this site but have a problem with my yellow 1.8 that I have owned and loved for 10 years. Shortly after starting the car, the revs go up to 3000 which makes the car very unpleasant to drive!! Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and how to cure it? Many thanks
