Tried all the simple things (beeing very simple myself :D ) Had a new rad, new hoses expansion tank and cap, thermostat, both temp sensors and the switch in the rad, fan works fine kicks in both speeds. My last job I will attempt is the water pump then if all fails the head gets pressure tested although compresion was good, my car must have the newest cooling system about, bets the big end goes as soon it's fixed.

someone with the same problem as me :) (sorry)mine has had every thing changed so far (and I mean everything expansion tank, cap x2 fan switch x2.....) other than the water pump and head, had a compression test and all was well so it's the water pump next, the walk through changing it would also be very helpfull. Mine has been sat in the garage so long I took it for an MoT and most of the bushes had perished and split !! :(

dosn't water boil at a higher temp when under pressure? The2 speed fan switch in the rad kicks in the top speed at 110 (I think)

Corrado owners in wales - make youself known here please

Where are you? I'm in Blackwood, there are three around here I know of, a yellow 16v, my g60 and a very sweet green storm. -
I bought one from Makro couple of weeks ago for £14 plus vat, it's been doing it's job fine :)

thanks, e-mailing the company to ask, it's a sony head and has a saving of about £80 so I have to weighup wether or not radio is worth it. Thanks for the help James.

Any reason why a US Sony head unit wouldn't work in a UK Corrado? Found the head I want cheaper in the US inc shpping than in the Uk, thanks James.

Your's a G60? had mine of the road for months just couldn't find the problem  changed the cap, thermo swithch, checked the head etc. just can't cure it totaly. Do the water pipes become rock solid with the pressure? more so than just the system under normall pressure?
-
I was loking for one as well, thought I found one on eBay but turned out to be a bit of a waste of money :(
-
Yeh, also new fan switch some new pipes, flushed the system, back flushed it, compression tests, gets better when I change something the goes back :?

:( bit much for a one off. I'm in the Cardiff area, changed allsorts in the cooling system but it still boils, not straight away some times, done the obviouse checks, head, leaks, fan etc etc. one thing I have notices is that the pipes are really pumped up, not just the normal pressure, and it will spit the water out when it does boil more so when you floor the acelarator. Cheers James.

Has any one used the pressure tester for the cooling system, I have an ongoing problem (not been running properly for well over 18 months :( ) and would like to use this tester that clips on to the expansion cap, I'm guessing it's a main dealer part but any one know how much it's likely to be , can get down there untill Sat. Thanks James.

It will only get worse :( may as well bit the bulit, however make sure they do a better job than they did on mine, left the sealer on the inside messy, had to trim it back myself.

A crack there wont fail an MoT etc. Getting it sorted though cost me £230 for a replacment (none of the big chains stock a green tint at the time! :( ) Had to have mine replaced after my little bro stole my car while I was on holiday and his phyco girlfriend put her heal through it from the inside

Awaiting a new temp gauge sensor so not to sure about the temp, but the fan does cut in as a new fan switch has been fitted in the rad. As to the pressure this is not normal! today it did a good pressure cooker impression with a really high pitched whistle  Also done a head test before I changed the cap and all was fine. Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks for the fast reply, it would make sense as in the very begining (12 months ago) it spewed out a lot of muck and rubish, now I have the original problem solved it showing this one up, going to check this pipe next. As to coolant it was all done by the local garage just before it split a pipe and spat all of the water out :(

Hi, after 12 months of my C being off the road I took the advice and I changed the expansion cap and all was well :D BUT it then blew a hose (£53 bloody hose! ) spat all the water out, luckily in the garage. New hose fitted it ran fine but the pressure it is building up is unreal after a 10-15min run all the pipes are expanded. Isn’t there some sort of release valve anywhere as I’m going to go through pipes just trying to find the problem. Any help would be welcome as I don’t want to put her back in the garage for another 12months. Thanks James.

Thanks for the help guys! after a new thermostat, fan switch etc. etc. it was a faulty expansion tank cap! best £5 I have spent, well happy :D No temp gauge as yet but at least we are running again! :D :D fingers crossed it lasts, all the best James

Thanks for the help guy's, the leaking pipe was the plastic housing on the engine it's self which was changed without much hassle. The temp gauge has stoped working since this boiling problem! At the moment there is just water in it as the rad has been flushed etc.(It was really really dirty) When it does start to boil I can remove the cap with no pressure in the system so a quick trip to VW today to eliminate the expansion cap (fingers crossed!) Again thanks and I'll post the results later. James.

thanks, it's not good at all as I sold my wifes Volvo S40 for it! :? It has to get back on the road or it's going!

after reading all the posts about air locks etc. and changing the fan switch my c ('92) still boils over within about 15-20 mins of starting. It has been off the road for over a year, the original problem was a leaking pipe which was changed, 1st we checked the H/gas and all was fine, any new ideas? I'm new to the forum but been lurking for a while. Also anywhere recomended to take it to in the Cardiff area? Many thanks James.
