Is this what causes it to not work when hitting a certain speed then? I will check it out later when I go back out to it howcome the speed sensor wire goes to the stereo? my old mans got a MK4 Golf that turns the stereo volume up when you start to speed up to counter engine sound, it's not for that is it? cheers

I know this has been covered many times Having got the corrado... partly for the perk of having the spoiler working and then finding out it doesn't, I pulled my finger out and sorted it today I put my electrical tester to the 7 socket for ground, then tested the yellow wire and the blue/white wire to make sure it was live, everything was coming through on that fine, so I tested the switch, left the ground on and put the tested to the switch, when I pressed the switch I got a live reading so I knew it wasn't that So I knew it was the control module at fault, so with nothing to loose I took it apart and re soldered all the points, and applied new solder where it seemed low as I know dry soldered boards are notorious for breaking... it finally lives I must have pressed the spoiler switch 20 something times the day I got my Corrado in disappointment, felt pretty great seeing it finally lift up, not too sure it's working on the speed sensor at the moment but there was a live on the blue/white wire, I would advise anyone who has similar spoiler problems to do the same if they're any good wit PCB boards... if it is already broke, what do you have to loose :D

Possible dodgy MOT... can anyone give me some advice

Yea I was having a look then at its past MOT's the one it had before the lad got it, it failed on blowing exhaust/headlamp not being on right (which it still isn't) and the brake load sensing valve being siezed, but then it's got a pass both times and I have the pass certificate I think i'll email the guy and tell him what has happened, then see what he says and the garage, then I will probably have to go down the police/vosa route thanks for the advice everyone ---------- Post added at 11:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:09 PM ---------- I hope they can do something, I mean if it had been a few months since it had its MOT then I could understand things going... but surely when they see it got an MOT on like the 17th of last month and the brake lines look battered they should say it would have been picked up on? -
Possible dodgy MOT... can anyone give me some advice

I just recently swapped my Golf for a Corrado, all seemed well with it... he said it flew through its MOT etc... and there was no rust so, did the swap and I got my corrado... still kept in touch with the lad because he wants my boot lid I have spare for the Golf, but when I got back and it rained I noticed the wipers weren't clearing right... so both me and my dad who was with me were saying "not sure how this flew through an MOT like that" and the exhauat was blowing, so i've been a bit soft on it because it didn't feel right and as I was just about to go pickup a mate, the brake pedal just sunk straight into the floor and I had no brakes... looks like one of the brake lines are corroded and just burst on my last Golf it got pulled right away for the brake lines being corroded and said they had to be replaced... so I can only assume the guys MOT'd it with his eyes closed, it's a brand new ticket on it anyone any ideas on what I should do? ANY advice would be greatly appreciated -
yea switch and control unit are plugged in still, keep trying to give the motor a test but the weather turns crud, i'll keep you posted mate once I give it a test haha you fitted an AFK/BAM engine in your Corrado?

I don't think it has worked for a while having manually lifting it up today and finding a lot of green moss under it hahaha, i've only just got it so I don't know how long its not been working for. I suppose it could be both the switch and the control box that are gone, I got told though if you press the switch and the control unit doesn't click then it's dead and the spoiler won't work... but I dunno hahaha... i'm new to Corrado's
-
right, cheers... i'll go try that today and test it all still works i'm guessing then if it does, and the spoiler module has voltage going to it, then it really just leaves the module being what is at fault doesn't it
-
Right i'll give that a try tomorrow and see if the motor is good, not sure what you mean about the manual switch  i've just tried it by pressing it and that was it

I tried the search to find more info on this but nothing is coming up on my problem, so I thought I would ask in hopes some electrical guru can lead me in the right direction the spoiler won't come up auto, or even with the switch, so I just pulled out the control module for the spoiler and put a multimetre on it and it's saying it has a voltage on the two blue wires and the red/white one, so I assume its not a short or anything so I put my hand on it and tried the manual switch, no ticking on it... am I right to assume for now that the module is just dead? or is there any other checks I can do thanks in advance to whoever gets back to me :D

thanks for the warm welcome I did end up swapping my Golf, so I now have a nice silver Corrado on my front, took some pics last night :thumbleft: Now just to find some better looking alloys and an 8v bottom end so I can prepare for a 16vT :D -

fully plan to mate lol, then i'm looking at getting an 8v 2.0 bottom end from a mk3 gti and doing a turbo conversion on it, the thought of a 16vT Corrado brings a smile to my face hahaha :smug: -

cool, so not that much of a change bar the interior, can late spec parts be fitted to the early spec if I ever did need to replace anything? and can the late spec clocks be used on the early spec? If I do end up getting one i'll post some pics up, i'm right in thinking that if it has a colour coded "corrado" badge, then it will be early spec? cheers for the info -
Hi all thought i'd say hello and introduce myself, names Peter and I currently have a Mk2 Golf 16v, but i've wanted a Corrado for a while, so I may be getting one anyone clear up for me what the difference between the early spec and late spec, I know the dash has the old style switches and heater controls, but with MK2 golfs early and late means skinny or big bumpers, this the same for Corrado's? any help would be great :D
