The dragstrip will be the hub of the automotive action with some of the quickest VW’s in the country running in competition on the ¼ mile and the longstanding rivalry between American muscle cars and air-cooled VW’s playing out over the weekend as they come head to head on track. As well as the VW action on the strip, York Raceway’s championship drag racing classes will be racing hard in the final rounds of their championship series for 2012 and just confirmed is the addition of demonstration runs on the strip by “Rocket” Ronnie Picardo in his “Wheelie Split” split window VW pickup. There’ll be the usual high quality Viking Volksfest Show’n’Shine but the track schedule also allows plenty of opportunity for VW “run what you brung” sessions throughout the weekend, so make sure you have your driving licence and a helmet (some loan helmets may be available) if you’d like to run your car on the ¼ mile. York Raceway is the only dragstrip in the UK that has integrated 0-60 timing into its TSI timing system, so if you choose to run your car on the track not only will you receive a ¼ mile time and speed and all the usual increments but you will also be able to see how long it takes you to hit that all-important 60mph milestone. Throughout the weekend there will be monster truck car crushing action with Big Pete, Europe’s biggest monster truck, and Grim Reaper a thoroughbred amongst competitive racing monster trucks. As if these two can’t inflict enough damage the 3000hp, twin engined monster tank Armageddon will be ripping and pulverising everything beneath its tracks. Other attractions include face-painting for kids of all ages, circus skills and water zorbs plus all the usual trade stands. hello everyone anyone know how easy or difficult it is to take the immobiliser out of an early 1.8 16v as mine doesn't work and is just cluttering up the engine bay. cheers.Dan

its good fun last year i went for just over a week had an extended stay in france due to a mishap leaving le man a stone flicked up off the road an smashed drivers windscreen on the old bus we took. all good fun

it looked worse than the pictures when i first saw it by chance i was with a mate taking his old bus to a garage nearby and just spotted it in the corner it was a bit green and furry lol i asked the bloke who owned the garage about it he dragged it out the day after and jet washed it called me and i went to look and 300 quid later i owned it. Luckily i have a quite relaxed missis and a unit to work in so happy days.

im in west yorkshire and im going to get it looking as good as possible driving as it should then sell it on i think unless my missis passes her test before i finish it.

looking a bit worse for wear and not runnig. (been stood since 2006 ish) Had it since late september replaced in line fuel pump and cleaned up metering head that got it turning over then found the water flange that comes off the block had been over tightened so it leaked the little coolant that was in there all over the floor. That replaced solved that then noticed the overrun cut off valve was broken but it seams to idle ok without that connected, seccond hand one on its way(good old ebay) new brakes next then ut its wheels back on and see if it drives ok. Fingers crossed got myself a bargin

hi i just swapped the fuel pump on my 1.8 16v and managed to break the line from the pump to the accumulator Doh. so i have decided to buy a shiny new accumulator and the lines to go with it as mine are in a bad way but i cant seem to find one is it a 1.8 corrado only part? any advice greatly received cheers Dan.

Update new fuel pump on its way im guessing thats when i find out that wasnt the problem ha ha,

Hi i just got a 1.8 16v in pretty bad shape paid £300 for her paint is awful but very little rust its got 150k plus on the clock so its travelled a bit lol. good thing i think is all electrics now work fine thanks to some help i recieved from here. bad point is i need a fuel pump and accumulator just to find out if thats why it wont start. many fun filled weekends to come lol any advise would be greatfully received cheers,Dan

Hi, I recently rescued a 1.8 16 valve from a shed where its been sat from 2006. It hasn't moved since then but i bought it as a restoration project. I have already identified a dead fuel pump as the reason it wouldn't start (intank pump is fine, its the other one) and was wondering what else major i shoud be looking at. Also the drivers door handle doesn't work. Anyone got any ideas of a quick fix for this i.e. bodge it till i can get a new one? Typical corrado problem. Plus does, anyone have a driver's seat they want to sell?! And any ideas about how to get the spoiler to go down would be appreciated. Thanks for your time, Dan
