  1. Hi all, I used to own a nugget yellow G60 in the UK, as well as various Golf Gti's. I moved to New Zealand 5 years ago and last year I managed to get my hands on a 1989 1.8 16v in a Charcoal colour (almost black). There are only about 13 Corrados in New Zealand and few of them NZ cars. Mine is an unmolested original NZ car. I have had to fix a bit of rust up on drivers door and also back of car but thats all sorted now. Interior is very good save for drivers bolster, which I have some replacement material. I have been having parts sent over from the UK as well as a couple from NZ from Corrado enthusiasts. This has allowed me to get the car fully restored and driving really well. Money has been tight so I have been doing bits at a time when I could afford. One of the things I need is a front lip (90mm Uk version not the 50mm US version) and I am having difficulty finding where I can get one from. Ideally new although consider good 2nd hand. Like I say car is unmolested. It even had the original Blaukpunkt stereo in (although screen didn't work & needed to decode, so put a new one in for now as cheaper option!). car is going in for a full service Tuesday at VW specialist, although not sure if they really know too much about Corrados. Obviously need to get the oil & filter changed (had air filter replaced recently), could anyone recommend what else I should have checked/changed as the car probably need a good service. Cambelt has been changed when I got the car as well as cylinder head rocker cover. Probably need to replace sparks at some stage but any other suggestions? The car is running on original 15" sebrings, although I would love to stick a set of 16" BBS RS's on when I have a load of cash!! The bump stops are well worn and not sure if the shocks will need replacing in the next year or so. It passed it's MOT with no problems but when there is weight in the back the back makes a sound (probably tyres rubbing). I am assuming it is probably best to get the shocks done at the same time as bump stops as it is a biggis job (or can bump stops be changed easy enough for a mechanic?). Does anyone have any recommendations on shock absorbers/set up for standard 15" wheels. Don't want to lower the car but would like to make it best ride I can (within reason $$) Anyway all for now Daz
  2. Hi, my Rado has been firing ok but needs a full service and probably new set of sparks. Is there a particular brand or type anyone would recommend for a standard unmolested 1989 1.8 16v car. Does it make any difference anyway??
  3. Ok so I have just joined this forum. Having had a G60 in the Uk many years ago I tracked down a 16v 1.8 Corrado (1989) here in New Zealand, where I am now living. car has done approx 125,000 miles gets used daily for short distance. The engine is pretty smooth although a bit of knocking until it warms up. It is obviously not as cold in Auckland (temp rarely go below 6 or 7 degrees). can someone recommend an engine oil. I have been using a semi synthetic 15-40w but it is due an oil & filter change on Tuesday. Cheers Daz
