Anyone else recognise what this wiring is for?
-
The wiring in the first second and third pictures seems to go by the ignition coil and the second photo by where the airbox would be.

I've been going through my wiring harnesses and labelling plugs and wires as it has come back from a 'mechanic' in pieces :/ I've found out what most of them are but stuck on a few and was wondering if any of you guys knew, they are all attached in pictures :) its a 1.8 16v KR engine. http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n486/golfmk3tdi1/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0467_zpskgl28crx.jpg[/img]

Thanks for your help!

My engine wiring harness is in a mess and I need some help identifying the wires and connections, the car is a VW Corrado 1.8 16v, I bought a Golf mk2 Haynes manual for reference but it only details the wiring diagrams for the GTI with the CE2 fuse box, and my car has a CE1 fuse box and none of the wire colours seem to match for instance the 3 hall sensor wires are different colours in the diagrams for the Golf 1.8 16v than they are in my corrado 1.8 16v, and there are no manuals or diagrams which are readily available for my corrado, can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Pm me for some more details, got quite a bit advice if you are thinking or turbocharging a 1.8 16v :)

Do you still have this for sale? I live in Cornwall and would definatly take it off your hands!

Just for whoever may be interested in a build that I am doing at the moment :) Corrado 1.8 16v KR engine professionally remachined bored and lined to perfect standard 81mm, main and big end bearings replaced with brand new, Audi S2 coupe pistons stripped apart and rebuilt with new pins, rings and locks, ARP head stud kit with steel multi layered headgasket, fully rebuilt cylinder head (not sure to port and polish yet). Oldschool Turbo Technics management with rebuilt Garret T25 turbocharger, Turbo Technics cast exhaust manifold, full Powerflow exhaust system.

Hi! the engine is a 1.8 16v 4 cylinder so don't have the worry of 6 cylinders haha, yeah as soon as the block is stripped apart its going to be taken to the machine shop and honed, tolerances checked then machine washed and painted, the ovalization was the concern that I did have though which is why I want it to be done properly, the original engines compression test results were 140, 135, 142, 100 on a dry test, and on a wet test cylinder #4 jumped up from 100 to 140 (Y)

Low compression , burning oil need to get it rebuilt

Hi, I am having an engine rebuild done soon and I need to find piston rings and big end bearings to fit! I have seen some KS brand big end bearings http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251206897773&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123 and some RIC brand Japan made piston rings http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271088677403&ssPageName=ADME:X:eRTM:GB:1123 my question is has anyone used these before? would you recommend them and if not where could I find the OE parts without going direct to the stealers! thanks.

what name do we call our corrados? Mines called bully

Turboraddo, because she's a Turbo Technics 1.8 16v (: -
Hi! yeah I got a number you can call...say Elliot sent you, 07968619952 this guy has everything!
-
Yeah I second the irwin extractors, similar to Turbosockets which I use...make sure you have lots of leverage! if that fails and you have access to a welder you can also weld a nut onto the head of the allen and use that to unscrew the bolt, you get a similar heat effect too! but just be cautious of the fuel system and any fluid you have sprayed onto the part (nearly set fire to a Peugeot 106 before trying to loosen a bolt with heat and WD40 xD, not advised!)

Do you mean like a quad throttle body system?
-
Your best bet would to buy your own inexpensive compression tester, what does the compression sound like? does it turn over really fast? test the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge, and have the injectors serviced or replaced, also check out the distributor timing, message me back with results ;)

Your Rado may have a different style of HID setup but here is the diagram of mine http://www.carhidkits.com/myfiles/image/Offroad/relay_installguide.jpg basically they take the power from just one of the old headlight plugs and use that as a signal to switch on a relay which sends power to the HID ballasts and HID bulbs if you need anymore help give me a shout :)

Hi :) I'm no expert but its usually because when the cooling fan activates it takes power from the battery of the car, which in turn needs to be charged by the alternator which has to generate more power, so it creates a load on the engine (basically the pulley on the alternator is harder to turn the more power that is needed from it) the alternator is connected to the engine via a belt so the engine needs to put more effort in to turn the pulley, the ecu or other sensors detect that the engine is under more load so more RPM is given! I hope that makes sense...although again, I'm no expert!

Fit an oil pressure gauge, its nice to have anyway :)

Car: Corrado 1.8 16v Turbo Exhaust: Full Poweflow system with oval tip £400 fitted (by previous owner) Opinion: Excellent sound, can easily hear the turbo spooling up but it a little loud on idle! never been pulled over though ;)
