LOL Yeah I dare say most peoples reactions would be the same. MIne's the 98 to 2003 model btw. It's something about the 1 ltr 3 pot 12 valve motor I love. Makes a lovely sound, at least I think so. LOL But thanks folks, I'll deffo be trying to save pennies for a future project. But the next 5 years are gonna be tight financially!! Will see how it goes though.

It saddens me to say this folks, but my Corrado has been sold. I could no longer afford to run it being a student and not having any regular work. It has gone to a good home as the guy is a VW enthusiast and it will live alongside his Passat. I took his Daihatsu Cuore in part ex, a car I genuinely do love as I owned one once before and always missed owning and driving it. I will stay a part of thr forum and look in on what's going on. If I find myself in a better financial situation in the years to come then I will deffo look into buying another Corrado. I already miss it and it's only been gone a few hours, but i'll see it regularly and keep up to date on how it's doing. So there you go, it's been fun. :'-)

Thanks guys. Spoke to a VW specialist today who confirmed everything you guys have said. I'll nurse the car along til next weekend as it's not terminal and sort the cv joints then. I'll try and get the alignment sorted soon as and just avoid any full right lock until then. Money's tight so will just have to manage.
-
Ta guys. I'm gonna get it serviced soon so i'll get the lad to do what's necessary. He's a friend so he'll sort it out and check it over. I'll just take it easy til then.
-
Ta guys. I'll give Euro car parts a bell later. I did think it odd that they'd be unavailable.

Hi guys. Sometimes on start up there appears to be a loud tapping from the top end of the engine, it usually disappears after a second. It will also sometimes be a little noisey and rattley until it is warmed up though nothing like the noise on start up. Every now and then also even when warmed up it seems the tapping noise seems to come and go intermittently. I'm worried that the oil pump may be on its way out or the oil pickup is blocked with some unwanted crap. That or my cams are about shot. The little bit of camshaft I can see through the filler cap looks fine but that's only 1 of 16 lobes. It seems like a chew on to inspect the cams etc what with the intake plenum design, but if this needs doing then so be it. In the meantime if anyone can shed a little light on what might be the problem if any I would be very appreciative.

Hi guys. Ok, my offside inner and outer CV joints are giving up the ghost, mostly the inner. Anyway, when I enquired about the parts today I was told they're obsolete and are no longer available!! I found this surprising and alarmimg. I'm hoping that if Corrado specific ones are no longer available then ones for another 1.8 16V engine VAG car will fit. If so and if anyone has the knowledge to impart I would be most gratefull. I'm having to use the car still to get to work, so the quicker I get them replaced ther better. Also, the inside of the offside front wheel on full lock is scrubbing the inner wheel arch. I'm sure this shouldn't be happening especially with standard alloys and skinny 185/ tyres fitted. I'm hoping this isn't a sign that car has been twatted in the past and something under there is bent or misaligned. I don't suppose it would be caused by the play in the cv joints. Anyway, any help or info would be much appreciated ta.

Ta guys. I've spoken to a bodyshop I know. They can sort the rust easy enough. Just a couple small patches. Will get the insurance onto the windscreen. They use Autoglass i've been told. If they won't come out and remove the screen and return to fit it, then the body shop can get it removed. Will sort it out by next weekend I hope. Just hope the cracks don't get too much worse before then. I'm taking it easy and avoiding potholes etc.

I have a cracked windscreen, as you may have gathered. I'll have to sort it through my insurance. Just wondered if there are any things to look out for. Problem I have is that there are a few rusty bits around the egde of the windscreen that i'll need to sort out first. Never done owt like this before and I dunno whether i'll need to take the screen out first to get at the rusty bits and if so is there anything I need to be careful of. I can take the rubber off easy enough, but the trims on the side look well stuck in there and I dunno how to remove them. I assume the window fitter won't want to be doing any work on rusty bits so that's why I'm thinking i'll need to do it myself. As for treating the rusty bits. I can't see how bad they are until I get the rubber off, so i'm hoping I can just get away with grinding the rust away to the metal and putting some substance on it to protect it. If anyone can give some advice on all of this i'd be most gratefull. Also are there any window firms to look out for, I dunno who my insurance company use.

Dark blue VR6 coming out of the big Asda in Darlington. Think it might've been the same guy I saw last time. Can't be that many Dark blue Corrados just happen to be living locally. He won't have seen me, not the way he was craning his neck to see past the other traffic.

Meh, not for me i'm afraid. I look at my car every time i go out to it or return to it in the car park in town etc and think how lucky I am to own such a gorgeous car. I've alway loved the design of the front end, the shape of the lights and the subtle lines to break up the squareness. In short, I think it should be left well alone. But that's just my opinion. :-)

Spotted a dark blue looking one passing me in Haughton Village area in Darlo. Bout 1730 ish. Dunno what variant, was too chuffed just to see another one :-) I waved but he either ignored me or didn't see my bright red one coming the other way. Who knows eh.

Yeah mate that was me. 2 mins later i was chugging to the 1st layby on the bypass wit I suspect a duff fuel pump or two. I nursed it home and fitted the the new intank pump I already had then went Halfrauds and got a dizzy cap and rotor arm as they had seen better days. There's oil leaking in from the camshaft oil seal I think. Just another thing to sort out. Still love my car though. :-)
