    Speedo problem

wehayyy... tried that in lunch and its worked, although i think im about 3 - 5 mph over now, so i'll calibrate on gps this evening. I think i was being too timid with the solonoid unit before - the needle needs to be firmly fixed for it to grip the axle :D . thanks henny.

    Speedo problem

cheers henny. I'll give that a go, although i did try doing that with the initial solonoid but to no avial. I havent tried it wit the new one for fear of screwing it up. I have changed the tyres and wheels in the last few months but there have been no size changes, and i'm pretty sure the speeds were ok before i started messing with the speedo - ie change out of 2nd at 45 etc..

    Speedo problem

I tested my speedo (91 g60) last night with gps. It appears to be consitently running 10mph too fast. This is odd because 2 months ago i tested it and was surprised to find it bob on - even at 110. Initially i attributed the problem to a faulty solonoid (or whatever you call that unit attached to the needle) due to tinkering with speedo whilst reversing the polarity of the lcds and changing the colour of the floodlighting. However i swapped the component with one from the spare set of vr6 dials i had as it had the same serial no.). Needless to say the problem still exists. I'm wondering if the needle should naturally be at rest below the needle stopper thereby not showing any movement until 10mph or whether something more sinister is at work - does the rubber vacuum tube inserted into the rear of the speedo have a bearing on it all - maybe there's a leak? any help on this would be most appreciated as it's a veryt annoying niggle.
  4. been playing round with a spare set of late clocks, and discovered that the needles act as a waveguide and can be light from behind. A series of small holes drilled into the dial face around the needle hole, and a bright led mounted inside the white plastic casing will give the desire effect. A bit of messing around, i agree but the final result better than using uv's i think. BTW how's progress dastardly ?
  5. come on guys...dont mean to be rude but can we sort this..what with summer coming up n'all  I reckon the front illumination of needles will be fine!
  6. sorry..you might find that difficult so here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 2463483652
  7. hi...search for dial bezels on ebay! you'll find a couple of places that do these bezels in brushed ss and with indicator holes, but will have to get the passat ones as they are not listed under corrado.
  8. yeh...lets go with this idea. Would like to have the needles rear illuiminated but this is next best thing...so that's fine
  9. guys....can we just go ahead and get these dials and everyone sort out their own needle problems. I think we can take it as read that these dials are cool, irrespective of whether or not we have a complete solution.
  10. just bought some suspension bushes off bannaman. Arrived quickly, and well packaged. this guy is a star
  11. hi, i have the same problem in my g60 (drivers side only). It's a common problem with the a2 chassis vws - the plastic door skin behind the door card becomes brittle with age and detatches from the door. As a consequence water finds its way into the car via the bottom of the door cards. Simply buy some visqueen, cut to shape of the door, making sure to leave as little gap around door handles etc as possible. Use heavy duty double sided tape/spray on leather glue to bond to door frame. Lift the carpets from the foot wells and dry the sound proofing as soon as you can as these will rot. This should solve your problem... taking the door card off only takes about 10 mins so you should be able to eliminate this as a cause fairly quickly if your skins are intact. 8)
  12. that would be a massive shame :( ...got to keep corrados as original looking as possible - no boy racer white dials!! :!:
  13. henry, has your guy come back to u about the needles, and is this a workable solution? cheers m8
  14. does anyone know if the hagus folding mirrors with indicators (on the awesome site http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/miscparts1.html ) for golf 4 would fit onto 92 corrado.i think this would look cool especially with side repeaters removed 8)
  15. any suggestions to modernise the rear wiper... cheers
