  1. Hi - Engine number is 104900 12 005467 Also described as Engine M104 V6 128kw (174hp) Does this mean anything to you? - Cheers
  2. Greetings, I bought a Merc V280 and was very happy to discover that it has a VW 2.8 VR6 engine. I am trying to find out if I can supercharge it, what the mangment system is and so on.... If you ask, you get either, if you don't ask you get neither. SO - Has anyone looked into this before - can anyone help in my search for the right kit - does a kit exist? I have been nosing around HPS, Eaton & Vortech superchargers so far - no luck yet. Has anyone got any connections in Germany, may be someones done this before? The V280 is a bit of classy people carrier, 6 full leather captains chairs etc etc, but the engine is rated at around 174bhp - could do with an increase... Thanks

  8. Hi, Please could someone advise as to what the correct torque setting is for wheel nuts? - (G60 4x 100) Also are they called wheel nuts or bolts or lugs?? And finally - should they be loosened & re-tightened with the wheel on or off the ground? Thanks!! Hamza
  9. Khurrado, I have PM'd you. Let me know if you don't receive the attachments Cheers Hamza
  10. Hello, Finally managed to take a pic of my Corrado, and get it on my PC. Its work in progress, the arches will be flared when I find the right wheels to put on the car. Its a tuned G60, with front mount intercooler etc. The block was rebuilt & the head, charger & inlet manifold ported & flowed. Its got a full supersprint exhaust system from manifold back. FK coilovers, anti roll bars, B&M quick shift, angel eyes, Mattig mirrors, SNS chip, 65mm pulley. VR6 bonnet, Audi A3 door handles I would just like to say a big thankyou to the helpful people on this forum. This project has been on going for more then 4 years now. Bit by bit. Can't confess to doing much DIY beyond simple jobs. Its a handful to drive, if its wet 1st & 2nd gear are useless - too much power through the wheels. I'll add some more photos soon, including a before & after jobby. I am selling my Rallye (The SNS Tuning G60) to fund a RWD conversion on the Corrado - I'll post the details on the for sale section. Cheers Hamza
  11. Hi, I have been mailing Image Wheels for some quotes on alloys etc. I commented that I was after a stretched euro look & told them I had 9 x 16's on my Rallye with 215/40/16 tyres. They were concerbed about this....this was their advice... "max width of wheel to fit that tyre as listed by the tyre companies and to E.T.R.T.O regulations is 8.5 wide if you have an accident your insurance will be void and the company who fitted the tyres could be hit with a min £5,000.00 fine." Might be useful to you when considering tyre sizes... Cheers Hamza

Spoke to ReaderAir again & asked very nicely if they would be able to (as a one off) produce the kit. They might do it if there is more interest in them doing this than just me. How many other people might be interested? - potential group buy? Cheers Hamza

    Diavia A/C units

Hi, I just got off the phone with someone at ReaderAir - they reckon Diavia A/C units are no longer available for my 1991 Corrado G60. Is there anywhere else that does them? Cheers Hamza
  15. OK - First apologies its an old topic. And I am really killing this one, sorry. I have searched on the forum, but can't find a solution... I have been calculating (on a spreadsheet) different wheel widths and the impact on the width of spacer needed to fit them (I intend to modify the arches). I started with what I think are the original fitments 6.5J x 15, et 33 I have assumed that 6.5j = 6.5 inches - Is this right?? Anyway - by my calculations 6.5J/inches converts to overall rim width of 165.1mm which when divided by 2 gives 82.55mm plus the offset +33 (mm?) equates to a rear rim width of 115.55mm. SO the distance from the wheel mounting face to the rear most edge of the original rim is 115.55mm. The logic I am applying here is that as long as I maintain approx the same distance between mounting face & rear rim edge, then I can get a alloy wheel as wide as I like but will then need serious arch mods to house it. (I hope your following me coz this is driving me nuts!) I then calculated for a variety of width & et combinations. E.g. I read Blue_Joe has 7.5j x 17 rims et 52 plus 25mm spacers SO 7.5J = 190.5mm, centreline is therefore 95.25mm plus wheel offset of +52 = 147.25mm as the distance from mounting face to rear rim edge. Hence he needed 25mm spacers which then reduced that distance to 122.25mm which is comparable to the original 115.55mm ( so clearance behind the alloy must have deteriorated by only 6.7mm) Great!! - but I think my theory is flawed as original 6.5J wheels were dressed in 195/50/15 tyres - which implies that the rim miust be at least 195mm wide not 165mm as per my theory above. I am confused by this. Can anyone shed anylight on this? Also how do I post my spreadsheet calcs on the forum so that someone can put me out of my misery. ANY help other than recommending a psychiatrist would be much appreciated. Cheers
  16. Dude - i am serious - there are undoubtedly a load of extra horses after tuning the 20v up - but it's got no character!
  17. My Rallye is not starting. I drove it a week ago & it was great I even had a bit of wild drive against another Rallye which had a 225 bhp 1.8T - I was all over him! (My 8v is running around 240 bhp) I looked under the bonnet & I noticed that the breather cap (top right side) had popped off the engine block so there was a small amount of oil vapour/spray on the block - but otherwise it looked OK. I don't think this should make too much difference as the setup is for a non-recirculating charger When I turn the key there is no normal starter noise - battery level is fine - where should I start invetigating from ? On a side note - I was previously thinking of the conversion but after seeing the 20v in the flesh I am sticking with the 8v. the difference in the character of the engine was massive - the 8v sounded like a beast - nice uneven idle, whirring charger -the 20v sounded like nothing particularly special - and the 20v block looked like it was mounted higher than the original block - thats got to affect handling? Any ideas would be a great help. Thanks in advance
  18. Hello All, My Corrado is in the paint shop - and has been for the last 3 months - alas. The guys there are having trouble fitting a Seidl Venus Front bumper (I it around 2 years ago now) http://www.seidl-tuning.de/katalog.htm The link takes you as far as the catalogue a few clicks later and you can view the Corrado Venus bits. Anyway the front bumper is made of Fibre glass it has no mounting points - it looks like a skin that you are probably meant to bond to the original bumper If anyone out there has any experience of this I would appreciate some ideas on how to get it fitted. The paint shop guys reckon that it does not fit over the original bumper. Golf+ feature a grey Corrado belonging to a Mark Yates in Jan 2005 with the same front bumper Thanks H
  19. Help!! My 1991 Corrado G60 is curently in a garage, my mechanic is claiming the following: 1. B&M short shift - mechanic is claiming he needs to drop the entire gear lever mechanism from underneath the car - he claims the existing lever can't be removed from the top - Is this true? Or is he simply adding £££s to my bill? 2. Single wiper conversion - he claims there is something wrong with the kit as movement is limited - does anyone know of any obvious errors he might be making?? 3. MY car is wearing 205/40/17's and track rods need replacing - I've just got off the phone from VW - there are 2 track rod sizes one is specificly for 205/50's (don't know what wheel diameter 16's or 17's ??) the other has no tyre size info. They are both special order, I don't know which to get can anyone helpppppp?? Thanks Hamza
  20. Hi, I want to fit 9x16's or 10 x16's on my Corrado - it has a 4 stud pattern, Could anyone tell me what offset I should be looking for and any other measurements that might be useful? - I am going for an old school deep dish look. Thanks H

Hi, I'm getting some alloys soon, but want them black chromed, does anyone know who offers this service? Thanks H
  22. Hello, Can anyone advise me on where to get a nice polished alloy looking strut brace for both front & rear of my G60 Corrado. I know that Stroeve do one - but a little pricey (325 all in from Eurotek) Momo do a front one - but its red. For the front :I don't want the one with a kink in it to avoid the coolant resevoir, I want one which either goes stright across or up a little and then straight across. For the Rear - I want one which joins the very top of the struts ( not halfway down the turret) - I hope this makes sense! Apologies if I have posted this message in the wrong section. Cheers H
  23. Hi, Sorry if this question has been asked already - Will a Rallye Inercooler fit a Corrado G60 without any body/engine bay mods? Thanks in advance. H
  24. Hello All, I just had the full supersprint manifold & system with cat bypass fitted to my G60, - it fit really well, but the manifold passes the rubber gaitor (sleeve) protecting the steering column so closely that it started to melt it - so I have temporarily had it cut off. Has anyone run into this problem & got any ideas on where I can source a heat shield for it, Richard at Venom suggested using heat wrap from Demon tweeks, but my mechanic i sscepticl as to whether this will do the job. He also reckons the heat from the exhasut manifold will rise up to the inlet manifold - which might cause problems. Thanks
