Hi guys yet another niggle on the C ! Have noticed in the last few days that the fan will cut in and out repetitvely after the engine is turned off. And although i know that it does run after the engine is turned off (when Hot), lately its been doing it even when i turn off and the water temp is only 70 - 80 deg and the oil temp is normal. so surely its got to be a thermostat problem or a fan relay? Any help would be appreciated... Cheers Guys

Mines done it ever since i bought it 2 years ago. Its to old to have a cat on it! (1990) i've checked the mixture and it's perfect the only thing i can come up with is a slight leak in the inlet manifold but after 35k + it doesn't seem to have hurt mine (touching wood whilst typing!).

No it's a 1.8 Valver. is there a relay that also affects the pawer supply from the ignition to the starter motor?

Not sure wether you've fixed this yet and whether it is the case but if you managed to start the car after pressurising the fuel system a few times then it coul be being caused by a lift pump failure. Not sure whether its the same on a VR as it is on a Valver but on a Valver you have two fuel pumps a lifter and a main one and if the smaller pump fails then for some reason the second one cannot cope with the demand (but did on mine for months!) and tends to buzz constantly.

Dont think its the earth lead or the positive as i've cleaned them recently so guess i'll try the ignition switch and keep you posted! Cheers Guys

Hi guys couldn't find anything that seemed to relate to this in other topics so here goes! Occasionaly and randomly my C wont start the only consistent thing is that its always after i've driven it for a while i.e not when its the first start of the day. when i turn the key power is there and i can hear the fuel pump pressurise but then nothing happens when i continue to turn the key! :cry: Its not the starter motor as it used to do it occasionally on the old one. could it be: -Coil? -Relay? -ignition unit? -Or most likely something else!! Any help would be appreciated as its embarrasing bump starting it!

Hi guys although i own a corrado :lol: my friend drives a mk3 golf that keeps stalling when the revs drop coming to a junction or dipping the clutch e.t.c its ok when its cold as i guess the auto choke is keeping them higher than usual but as soon is it is up to operating temperature it dies. it's a P reg 1.4 golf any ideas?... cheers in advance for any help

Hi all need to adjust the handbrake on my valver, pads are new and calipers are set fine just need to adjust it at the handbrake itself but have heard it's an arse of a job to get the plastic cover and centre console off without breaking and scratching both cover and console... any tips?

I am replying to my own post as thought it might be useful to some one. the rev counter was intermittent because of a dirty connection on the coil, still dont know if i've got the hoses the right way round so if someone could enlighten me it would be very helpful!

Hi guys couldn't see anything after searching so here goes! my windows seem very slow, slower on some days than others! also they seem to REALLY dim my lights i've greased the motor and sprayed silicone on the runners but no joy! could it be the wiring is shite like the headlights? or just tired motors? cheers guys and gals of course

Hi guys, my rev counter keeps cutting in and out when i hit lumps in the road and was wondering if you had any ideas on where to look for loose connections! the other thing is on the bottom of the air hose/pipe going the final piece going to the inlet manifold their are 2 pipes one plastic and the other with braided protective material on which way round should they be on a 1.8 16v kr? cheers for any replies......

Hi guys was wondering how difficult it is to remove the hard rubber door strips? are they glued and if so what are the chances that i'll end up ripping a chunk of paint off!? Cheers in advance

Hi guys thanks for your thoughts sorry it's taken so long to reply but taken me this long to get logged back on forum obviously doesn't work with aol! anyways have tried 2 of above but no joy havent bought the ignition unit yet as i'm broke thanks to my lovely C! any other ideas before i cough up for the ignition? also noticed that it has started to go a bit haywire revving wise on cold starts so could this all be down to a dodgy auto choke? :cry:

Thanks Henny its 1.8 16v and not sure if this is connected but the rev counter is also playing up cutting in and out and giving odd readings even when accelerating smoothly

Hi guys my valver has started to rev erratically when i let off the accelerator and even once i've come to a standstill i have done a quick search on my problem and read that it could be the isv but i have cleaned it up and it is buzzing nicely so what else could it be? please help!
