1. Which brings things back up to date Unfortunately a change of plans means that the car is now going up for sale, I'll be sorry to see it go as I had every intention of keeping it for good but I simply don't have the free space to keep it and couldn't bear to see it sat outside on my drive rusting away.

  2. It's been a while since I last posted on here so here's an update to where the car is now.

A change of plans with the interior, I have decided to go back to the factory look and reinstall the rear seats and carpet. The battery has been moved to the nearside rear corner on a custom made battery tray.

  3. Ray 1965, I'm over at Aston. I don't suppose you know anyone locally for spraying a car. Mine is in bits awaiting this. Just another reason I'm jealous of yours

I can recomend Wicked Paint And Panel in Pargate mate, they're not the cheapest but check out their work on FB. https://www.facebook.com/Wickedpaintandpanel/?hc_ref=ARSuojk8137l94jYyizYgMOj3pdXXtpNu_F-_eT7Oyhv8HuBoxNWbSuT4vsQTPLEi0M&fref=nf

  4. A bit of an update, I've managed to get the intercooler pipe welded up and fitted, I'm just pondering sending it off for powder coating now.

Also fitted my carbon air intake, it's a Simota one off my old BMW 328 Msport. I made a little bracket for it and secured it to the intercooler pipe.

I'm just waiting on a silicone hose arriving now for the recirc valve.

I've also been a little bit busy in the back of the car.

I made a strut brace with the mountings welded to the strut towers.

And boarded the rear bench seat area out around my battery after reloacting it to the back of the car. I need to source some carpet now and carpet over it all. I'm trying to make the back of the car look something like the Audi TT Sport Quattro.

  5. Not a good start to the weekend, as I went into the garage I could smeel petrol. A quick glance under the car revealed a nice pool of petrol.

The leak was coming from the accumulator pipe that was quite rotten, so no option for it I had to take the pump assembly down to investigate further. Seems that wasn't the only problem. The plastic pump housing was also cracked, admitedly made slightly worse as I was wrestling to remove it.

So a bit of clever plastic welding with the soldering iron ensued, follwed up with a coat of epoxy resin.

  6. Just speculating but I think the last time I had it out I must have had the belt jump on the cam sprocket and now the valve has been hitting the piston until it's bent enough not to come back up. This would explain it not wanting to start although I didn't hear any bad metallic sounds but it is quite a loud engine with the induction, exhaust and injectors tapping away

Oh **** man! has it damaged the head? Hopefully you will get away with just a new valve, but secondhand heads are plentyful on ebay.

  7. Made good progress today, new rear discs with pads, stops a lot better now. Old ones were shot. Now all the brakes are done and checked all sensors and they all seem to be working. Also checked fuses behind the glove box and they are fine but havnt checked relays. How do I go about checking the relays ? I've got a feeling it might be the pump

Have a search on the net for Wheeler Dealers Corrado, they had one with a faulty ABS pump and had it reconditioned. I think they test the pump first before stripping them, so may not cost too much depending on whats wrong.

  8. This sump is from a mk2 Golf 8v PB engine with the oil drain for the turbo welded in. My 20v block is the 058, older style which is essentially the same as the 8v and 16v block such as PB, KR, 9A, ABF etc. Originally from a 1999 Passat. It's now a bit of an oddball but being VW, lots of different parts fit

Ahh, I see. So you have a bit of a Frankenstien motor then? Looking good mate, supprising to see 2 Blackberry 20v's being built on the same forum. :thumbleft:

  9. My turbo intake pipe has finally turned up so with this fitted it has given me chance to look at the intercooler pipe work.

I have made it all from 2.5 stainless, just need to get it all welded up now.

I have also moved the expansion tank to the other side of the bay.

And I managed to fit my catch tank, must remember to order a cap!

  10. Time for a bit of an update. I have changed all of the brake pipes for copper, unfortunately I didn't have enough pipe to do the drivers side front so This will get done later when I get more pipe.

So that's pretty much everything done on the underside of the car.

I decided to move the battery into the back of the car, I have used a mk4 golf battery junction box mounted in the engine bay to give me a few power options and to make the battery relocation easier

I have used welding cable from work for my main battery cable, that should provide plenty of cranking amps! I have a few plans for the rear of the car, all will be revealed later.
