Mechanic needed in Surrey (sm1) or surrounding areas ...

Can anyone recommend anyone - happy to travel. -
Hi, I'm looking for a experienced mechanic / garage to work on my VR6. I don't want to book it into any old garage hopefully find one that has knowledge of Corrado's. Does any one have any suggestions / recommendations of people / places they have used before? Thanks in advanced

Hi, I have a fuel leak from the box section where the pipes run down from the engine towards filter. I have replaced the black "flow" pipe from the filter to the engine with some pipe I had but not correct size externally, this has stopped the leak but the car still will not idle smoothly. Before the small leak the car was running perfectly, it started by being difficult to start but better when warm then I noticed the small leak. I'm happy the pipe I've replaced this is the correct size internally just not good enough for permenant fix. So has anyone got any ideas what this could be?........ Also Can some tell me where I can purchase a new file line kit from, tried GSF, TPS, VW, etc but can't find anyone that does a kit. Any help would be great as wanted to take her away next weekend!

Hi, Billzeebub, Yep that was me in Sutton, I am local so more nods and waves to be exchanged. Only had mine for about 3 months you are the first I've seen in the area, starting to think I was the only one about! Nice clean car you have as well.
-
Yep, I was at Santa pod. Parked on the left in the mud as you drove in Red - VR6.

If the jet car is out it will feel a bit warmer. Glad a few other corrado's are going to be there, hopefully bump in to some to have a nose about. -
This will be my first visit to Santa Pod since getting a corrado, having always had MK1 golf's, hoping for a smooth drive up and the sunshine to stay out. Anyone from here going?
-
Same as you, loved my golfs but the corrado is just perfect. Looking forward to seeing some pictures. Welcome.

Adrian flux, classic policy on VR6 with mods 3000 miles a year. £218.
-
I though I did we'll with 90% history with 81000 miles, but you have a what appears to be a dream purchase. Welcome from a fellow newbie.
-
Nice car, looks very clean. Good find! Standard under the bonnet?
-
I think it's good for "modded" engine cars. Will keep you updated.
-
Got it from halfords in end £39.99 for 5lts but had to buy two bottles, was cheaper brands but wanted the best. No I think it will be fine just a wider range covered.
-
So I found out the oil in the car from the recent last service that the previous owner had done was 10w-30. Even halfords state it should be 10w-40 and after a little research on here and the net with the fact mine has upgraded cams, exhaust, re mapped it should have better oil in it and maybe this was the cause for the tapping noise. So I changed the oil to mobil 1, 10w - 60 and while at it change the filter for a genuine vw one. The car is now running sweet and smooth. I think 10w - 50 would have done it but 10w-60 will cover all, plus it was on special. Now all I need is the sun to come out and for the rain and snow to stop.:thumbleft:

Found this clip and it's the same noise, quite when cold then loud when car is up to temperature. Also found a old thread and noticed the old owner had the Same issue in 2011  http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?57224-VR6-Ticking-noise I will have a look at the weekend and see if I can find out what this is, even though its only just had an oil change by a garage when the past owner had it think a flush and new oil may help as not sure what oil they put in.
-
What oil to use for a VR6 & was there a haynes manual produced for the corrado's?

Great I'll have a look in tech area. Wow £80 but then again if I want to be able to fix / replace things myself may have to.
