  1. Hi,did the rod bearings fix this noise ? Mine makes exactly the same noise Cheers
  2. Hi,at least you know where the problem lies,I think one is a blue/white and the other a blue/grey,they shouldn't be connected together, I think one is speed signal and the other one maybe a 12v feed switch on wire for external amps or aerial boosters? Check to see if your radio wiring plug adaptor connects the speed signal wire further back from the plug in the photo,if so just disconnect it
  3. Hi mate, yes I've sorted it now,it stopped working after I fitted the cobra alarm/immobilizers,eventually I realized that the alarm instructions indicated that the vehicle speed signal was required on one of the alarm wires, cut a long story short, the alarm didn't require this signal and it stopped the spoiler working off vehicle speed, removed the wire and its all working,It sounds like your spoiler ECU isn't seeing the vehicle speed signal, does your speedo work? There is also a speed signal junction behind the dash/fuse box area, usually blue/white wires with blue plugs, also if you have an after market radio this could interfere as the factory radios use speed signals for volume control,if you have an aftermarket radio try it with it disconnected, see how you get on mate
  4. hi,i read lots of cooling threads for g60s cooling/overheating but my g60 whilst driving only gets up to 80 on the temp gauge but if you let it idle from cold it goes to around 90 to 100 with the first fan speed kicking in and controlling the temp ok,it doesnt overheat. As part of restoring the car I have replaced the head gasket, head pressure tested okay, replaced the thermostat, reservoir and cap with all genuine parts and refilled with correct coolant,i have checked the sender reading with an external temp gauge which matches the gauge,is it normal or should the temp sit at 90 not 80? how can i confirm the thermostat is the correct way around(mentioned on a previous thread) any help cheers
  5. hi,i know this has been covered several times but reading the posts im still not sure why my spoiler doesnt come out automatically anymore. It works fine off the switch but not road speed,it has worked before i fitted the cobra alarm and blaupunkt radio but ive disconnected the radio and theres no splicing on the speed signal wire(blue white)but it still doesnt work.Ive checked the alarm vss wire to the speed signal junction above the fuse box and this seems to be correct. If i check the speed signal wire stationary i get around 10volts on the radio speed signal wire and on the spoiler ecu wire,im thinking of testing the speed signal wire at the spoiler ecu whilst driving but not sure what voltage to look for? but i think its a digital signal from the vss sensor (hall sender) so may not work? oh my speedo works fine! any help please!!
  6. hi my g60 runs okay but the charger has an intermittant whine noise ,the charger was serviced aprox 2000 miles ago but when the car idles it sounds like the charger is making a whine noise coming in and out but not constant mainly when hot,is this normal? at first i thought it was a tight cambelt but ruled that out, please help, cheers.
  7. hi does anyone have the correct torque in nm for the new(improvised) g60 crank bolt? just struggling a bit to find it,cheers
  8. When I run the engine and turn it off and check the tension its just around the 90 degrees but if I run the engine again and recheck then it can tighten up,but I think this will happen as the engine may be on a power stroke or close to tdc,do these cambelts run quite slack?
  9. Hi cheers for the quick reply,I haven't replaced the crank bolt, was this an issue with all model year g60s,mines a 1991,do you have the torque setting in nm for the bolt? Cheers
  10. Hi I have replaced the cambelt on my g60 and was wondering what the correct procedure is to tension the belt, and where to check on the belt for 90 degree turn? I think its the longest part of the belt?,is the engine supposed to be hot or cold as it gets tighter when hot,are you suposed to check tension when engine is at tdc? Or doesn't it matter? Its just somthing I want to make sure is correct, cheers
