Dont get me wrong, I would love an R32 Corrado and totally understand the build costs are pretty significant. But modified/project cars are a bit of a labour of love and so you rarely see a return on the time and materials investment. (unless Edd China is your best mate:p) This why I wouldnt expect to pay the level of premium some people ask. Anyway, its pretty subjective and just my view rather than fact. Maybe these cars buck the trend somewhat.? If some one is willing to pay 4, 5 or more 1000s then its worth it to them. I dont begrudge anyone getting premium for whatever they have for sale, its just not where I would sink 5K personally. Cheers Paul

Yep, my typo, should read 2.5K not 2.K. Leather isnt hugely important to me though as it wouldnt be a daily. Having had these before its still a great car even at 3K The R32 engined car would be my preference despite the potential pitfalls and running issues however I struggle to understend the 2.5K premium for a converted car considering how small the market is. I would expect super clean original cars to achieve big money rather than heavily modded stuff. Cheers Paul

Small World matey. Had my last Corrado 12 years ago and had an itch to own another ever since. Its a toss up between that and a Renault 5 Turbo. cheers Paul

Running my second 8P S3. They are brilliant allrounders. First one was a 57 Plate Sprint Blue manual which I owned from 4months old for 3.5yrs and ran REVO Stage 1. Quick, capable, but thirsty. Not quite as reliable as people think but if anything is to go wrong is generally happens within the warranty period so the car should have had a decent shakedown. Currently have a MY12 Black Ed with DSG box and its also superb. Maybe not as `fun` or involving as a manual when hooning but I prefer it as a daily driver. These cars are quite `safe`and quiet so I added a Milltek TBE + Cats and SHARK Stage 1 map and its pretty quick and sounds much fruitier! 310bhp deployable in all weathers is a nice thing. I would recommend an S3 anyday and they are so tuneable. Clutches on manual cars are rubbish and dont stand up to tuning very well. Most people fit the SACH unit with OEM DMF and that seems to stand upto Stage 2+/3 tuning (360bhp). If you need any more info please fire away, or PM or whatever. There is a wealth of knowledge on Audi-sport.net if you have look over there. Cheers Paul

Really interesting thread this, I have that very car on my eBay watch list and was considering a punt if the price was right. (auction ends today) I am looking for finished car though, maybe minor cosmetic work would be Ok but any mechanical and/or electrical gremlins would put me off. Looking for a pre-loved weekend toy rather than a project. £2.K gets you a tidy VR6 these days so an R32 with `issues` seems steep is it not? cheers Paul

Hello! After 12 years I am back in the market for a Corrado. Started with a 1990 G60 in red back in 1997 ish, rebuilt charger by BRM and JAMEX suspension. Its was a minter with 1 owner and FVAGSH until it sadly expired in a shunt. The insurance money was used to buy a K plate VR6 in pearl grey, which was mechanically good but needed some love so a wheel refurb JAMEX suspension (these things sit sooo high) and general tidy of the body got it right. Eventually parenthood meant it had to be replaced by a Golf VR6 and a string of VAG after that. The plan was to source a 20VT converted car but nice ones have a premium attached and tidy VR6s look really good value at the minute. This would be a weekend car as the daily is an 8P S3 Sportback DSG (Milltek and SHARK stage 1 ) and you cant beat a small manual VR6 for a hoon! Flirted with, and even viewed a MK2 20VT Golf but the `Gti tax` means you dont get much for your money making the Corrado look a smarter purchase. The S3 is a superb bit of kit but I have always fancied another Corrado. If I can get my kicks here then the S3 can be swapped for a derv daily so can make sense. Anyhow, apologies for the long intro, off to explore suspension options as a car I have in mind is on stock stilts:p Cheers Paul PS - Anyone know this car ? Hope to view this week if its still available. Looks like an enthusiast car. Would be good to get some intel from anyone that knew it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Corrado-2-9-Coupe-VR6-1993-/261192650581?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3cd04b8f55
