Golf V6 4 Motion gearing

Hi all,

Does anyone know what the gears are lik on the golf V6 4motion? are they long or really close together?

 

I will be running slightly smaller wheels and just wondered what my gearing is going to end up like.

Have you got the gearbox model no? E.g. 02J?

 

There are online resources that have ratios next to model no.....

 

I would have thought it would be similar to the VR6 ratios. The 4Motion has 215x50x16s as standard (I think), so 'normal' sized tyres will lower the overall gearing slightly anyway.

I dont want the gearing too close.

 

My 1.8T mk2 with an 02M box was ridiculous , 6 speed and just over 4krpm at 80mph!!!

The 4motion gearing will be quite long to make use of the torque, like the 02A VR box...... as a guess :lol:

The 02m box I had was from a 1.8T seat leon cupra! are they not a bit more toruey?

 

I hope you are right kev. it will be crap with stupidly close gearing and all that power.

Dunno for sure mate.... we need the box code to cross reference it against a table of ratios....

its an 02M box, but so are all mk4 6 speed boxes

 

Its got 2 final drives aswell to confuse the issue a bit more, one for the first 4 gears then another for the last two (or is it 3 then 3? cant remember)

There should be some more numbers after it, which denotes the gearing. O2M is the general configuration, or case if you like. Not sure about the two final drives!!

 

Why don't you use a normal VR 02A box with Synchro bellhousing? Or are you not doing 4x4 yet?

cos a) this came withteh car,

b) the box action is super slick

and c) a VR syncro bell housing is as rare as the poo from a rocky hoss

First FD is for gears 1-4, the 2nd FD is for gears 5 and 6

 

I bought a Cupra R O2M for my still born track car because of the shortish and close stacked gearing. Still got it in my garage

 

Have a look on vwvortex, I'm sure someone there will have the gear ratios for the 4-mo box, or failing that you can get the gearing from ETKA if you know someone with a copy
