Bit of an awkward job prying the clock unit out but doable.

The bulbs are accessible from the back of the unit, they just screw out.

Halfords sell the bulbs. It's worth replacing all of them at once.

oh its just a bulb is it?? i was worried that the lcd was actually back lit and it was some circuitry cock up....

do i have to take the clock faces off to get to it?

no idea but when i got one it shows up dimmer than the other bulb so worth investigating :)

Im sure even VW couldnt charge much for them and then it would be the right one for sure.

the standard dash bulbs on a Corrado are:

3x 12v 1.8w with a blue base across the top of the cluster = 357 919 243B

2x 12v 1.1w with a black base behind the 2 LCDs = 4A0 919 040 C

so all of these are for the clocks and can all be changed without taking the clocks apart...just taking them out from the dash?

I take it the clocks remember the mileage when they are unpluged?

I got bulbs from GPC since I assumed they were VW only parts.

Then I saw them for half the price in Halfords a week later! Doh!

Halfords only sell one of the types (the brighter ones IIRC).... to get the lighting correct, you need both types and only VW sell both... ;)

I think it came to about £15 for all 5 bulbs when I did all of mine... 8)
