Oakley 0 Posted October 20, 2004 Hi All How would I fix this. I think the electrics are okay because when I try to adjust the mirrors all I hear is the buzzing but there is no movement. What do I do to fix the problem?
Jim 2 Posted October 20, 2004 You might need to whip off the door card and clean the connectors on the back of the switch - they get grimey and corrode a little over time, and quite often a few clicking noises but no mirror movement are the symptoms of this. Oakley 0 Posted October 20, 2004 could something possibly have slipped and how would I go about getting the door card off?
fla 9 Posted October 21, 2004 Oakley, Quite easy - take off the leather trim on the door handle to access the large cross-head screws holding the handle on. Take the handle off. There are a couple of screws on the lock side of the door that you will need to remove. At teh bottom of the card there are some plastic clips into which the card sits and you just need flick these down. Then carefully remove the door card by lifting it up and out. You can then take out the switch for the mirrors and clean up the contacts as JimsG60 says. Check the door for any loose bits that may have fallen and see if the teeth on the spur gear that move the miror have broken anywhere. In any case try the mirror without replacing the door card. Oil the gears lightly before closing up and when you close everything up it will also be nice and quiet. Think that's about it. Its quite a straightforward job - good luck! Ford 0 Posted October 22, 2004 If it doesnt work or if you throw it against a wall in frustration and it turns out you need a new mirror then give me a shout. There is a blue one down here, dont know how much the guy will want for it but probably not much, will need a respray which will set you back about £50. A last resort, but sounds like it will be okay though. Good luck.
