daves16v 1 Posted October 22, 2004 My 16v lump has just started rattling or vibrating. It starts at about 1100rpm and stops at about 1300rpm and sounds like it's coming from the back of the engine near the top. Could it just be a vibrating heatshield seeing as it's coming from near the exhaust manifold or something more sinister? It seems to come and go even when the engine is up to running temp. If a rattle could be resonance causing wam air feed metal thing to rattle! it's fixed by a coupe of bolts to the manifold which could be loose - hard to tell as inlet manifold obscures view... as you say could be heatshild which clips on at back. aide 0 Posted October 22, 2004 yeh your best having a look at it closer as there's a lot that can become loose this might sound stupid but have you checked it's not just something bouncing around in the channel below the windscreen, I had something similar once.
