stormseeker 0 Posted May 26, 2003 Quick question - anyone know how to remove the JVC KS-FX463R head unit? Quite a recent model that the previous owner fitted to my C less than a year ago. The face comes off, then the plastic outside trim unclips to reveal two little channels in the middle of each vertical edge - presumably I need some sort of widget to proddle in there to release some clips? VR6 0 Posted May 26, 2003 Yeah there should be some standard JVC removal thingies (brain hurst too much to think of technical stuff!). Know any friendly audi places that would lend you some for 2 mins? If not, they should cost all that much.
G60 0 Posted May 26, 2003 if its the standard radio removal metal..uhhh.... thingies, that vw use for their radios... those things get thrown out daily at the stealer since they get a set with every oem radio they put in. they'll probably give you a couple no problem.. they also throw out the little shelves that go in the space where the radio should be, if you have no radio. biggrim 0 Posted May 26, 2003 Ask in your local Halfords if you can borrow them for a couple of minutes. If they say no tell them that you are thinking of buying a new stereo but you have to check something out first behind the old stereo. If all else fails I think they only cost a couple of quid to buy.
stormseeker 0 Posted May 26, 2003 Thanks for the suggestions - just seen some on ebay - I'll see if I can cunningly fashion a new pair from the tons of junk I've got lying around in the cellar :)
Joe M 0 Posted May 26, 2003 A mini hacksaw blade was the ideal size when I had to remove an old stereo.
