vwdubs 0 Posted October 28, 2004 Ok I have five options facing me possibly 6. 1.) Buy some damaged leather seats and repair.. Rough cost of initial outlay £400+£300 to repair 2.) Buy some leather seats that are mint for about 750-£1k 3.) Have my cloth seats trimmed in leather at a cost of £750 + vat This does mean I can choose the colour. Not sure if this includes cost of door cards etc etc 4.) Buy some VW Mark2 Leather Seats 5.) Buy some leather and some old **it seats take the covers off, measure up against the leather and off we go make them. This would probably costs me about £250 plus labour (my own) in my own time What ya all think to be the best option
dinkus 10 Posted October 28, 2004 In my personal opinion... 1) no point, might as well go for 2 or 3 2) reasonable idea, but it will probably cost closer to £1k with door cards, so you might as well go for... 3) you need some seats to re-cover. If you're just going to re-cover your existing ones, then this makes the most sense. If you need to source some Recaros then you're back to option 1. Again, this will be more like £1k including door cards, but you do have the option of colour, exact materials etc. You do lose the use of your existing seats while the work is being done tho. 4) The Mk2 Recaros are much more impressive looking than the C ones, but you'll have to hack up the sub-frames to get them to fit. 5) Good luck... I dunno how good you are at that kind of thing, but there's very little chance you'll get anywhere near the same quality finish as a proper upholstery company. Just my 2p... :)

Blue_Joe 0 Posted October 28, 2004 I've recently enquires about a retrim but instead bought the interior from G60Renshaw. A full retrim of seats and door cards will cost at MJ Interiors in Shipley, Yorkshire about £1400. Tappers in Birmingham a little less however I know that MJ do a much better job. This is not including buying decent new seats because lets face it if you gonna do it, then do it properly and really you need some decent front seats to really set the car off!!!
