Turning over bottom end (VR6)

Just got given another 2.9 bottom end,

Nothing is on it, bar the sprockets and chains on one side...

Should I be able to turn it over by pulling on the chain?

Couldn't seem to do it when I gave it a quick go..

 

So am a bit worried it wont turn over, bu then again, it hasn't be used for about a year..

 

Is the best way to get it to move by getting the crank pulley bolt put in and getting a large bar on the wrench and turn?
