No windows and mirrors

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I need some help please.

My windows don't work at all and neither do the mirrors. The switches don't even light up.

Had a look at the fuses and Fuse 14 which controls reverse lights, mirrors and heated washer jets is blowing like a whore [;)] each time I start the car.

I can't understand why this effects the windows. Anyone know what to look for?

BTW the car is a '94 Corrado 2.0 16v.

Thanks in advance.

Amit

I had the same problem when I first got my G60 all of a sudden one day the no:14 fuse kept blowing everytime I switched on the ignition I eventually traced it down to the wiring for the heated washer jets wiring It was just a live wire that had corroded and was earthing out on the body. I would first have a look at all the wiring to the windows, mirrors, reversing light switch and the heated washer jets to see if there is any obvious signs of a stray or corroded wire which may be earthing out on the body pay extra attention to places like where the wires run from the body into the door you might find that a wire is connecting to the body round that area. Another thing you could try is putting a fuse back in and get a mate or someone to go to the back of the car and switch on the ignition if the the reversing lights come on then the switch for the reversing light is buggered I had this a few years back on my golf gti I replaced the switch and everything was fine again!!! good luck with it anyway hope you sort it soon!!!

Thanks guys. I'll look into it if it ever stops raining.

I'll start with the 'easy' bits like heated washer jets and reverse lights first.

Thought I'd keep you posted on this.

The problem appears to be fixed, replacing the reverse light switch seems to have done it.

Thanks for your help G60.

Righto then, if this one's sorted I'll shift it to 'Common Questions' for future reference.

Glad to hear you got it sorted Amit.
