Today at Stealth

Recommended Posts

Having already been up to Stealth at the beginning of this week to drop off my business partner's Audi 100 Avant S4, I spotted a nice perlescent green Rado parked at the rear of the Stealth premises, it belongs to John, who works at Stealth. Ok, I only had the boring Ford Escort delivery van with me, but today decided to go back in style, and park my US-spec Rado next to his  :

His is pumping out a leisurely 290 bhp (Audi TT engine), it's for sale for a nice £9500  , and he's looking at buying a white one as well, stripping it though, dropping in a Turboblock, and doing that up to about 600 bhp  , ready for some serious work on the strip at Santa Pod and such like.

Anyway, I also had a chance of driving my business partner's Audi, once we'd arrived back at work, haded over the keys, after a £500 bill at Stealth (cambelt, tensioner, auxiliary belt change, new dump-valve - OK could have done the latter ourselves) had brought back all 220 horses under the bonnet again.

OK, here we go, onto the A46 ... vroooommmmm!!! What a beast, it's even got 6 gears to play around with :D Turned around at the next junction, sped down the feeder lane, each time flooring it, and wow, I was well impressed :D

The Audi looks like a total sleeper, but it has plenty of torque in pretty much all gears under almost any condition, never sounding tired or strained (actually you hardly heard anything inside, it all stayed very refined, except for the brutal forces pushing you into those lovely Quattro seats :D )

Erm, yes, he now wants to test drive my Rado  , whilst he's already planning the next upgrade, a larger intercooler and new chip to take him to 300 bhp!!! This engine will happily go up to 500 bhp, and remains solid and reliable, as demonstrated by Audi themselves.

OK, enough of that, I'll treat myself to the better looking yet slower car tonight again ...

Jesus, I didn't know John was asking £9.5K for his! Looks nice now it's been resprayed and tidied up though. It's also got a new lump in it as he blew the last one at the pod. He laughed it off though - very very laid back and chilled that bloke!

I didn't know Audi did an S4 100? Got any pics?

Yup, the S4 was based on the Audi 100, the Avant being the estate version, practical and fast at the same time :D

John said he'd spend nearly 2.4k alone on the paint work

Yes, his tail lights are just tinted unlike mine :D Funnily enough there were some InPros in Stealth's little diaply cabinet at the front counter, didn't dare ask him how much he charges for 'm, though

It is back down to 290bhp now as he's dropped a standard 225 lump and K04 in to sell it - his other engine, big turbo etc which was nearer 400bhp is going into another project.......
