jimbobbalooba 0 Posted January 15, 2005 The journey begins. Having been a mate of Andi's for a few years now and having seen his VR6 just too many times i've finally given in and bought a Corrado. I'm gonna mod it to a degree, probably more cosmetic than performance but i'm easily persueded :? Firstly it's needs a complete overhall, it's ropey but i'm not in a rush (It's not my only car!). I want to keep the cost down and do as much work as i can myself. I'm not foreign to this and have had a couple of Golfs in the past but would appreciate any tips on what i should do first really. I just keep looking at it and smiling, such a kid. Look forward to hearing from all you lot. Cheers Jim

JBOB 0 Posted January 15, 2005 Like the CF bonnet JBOB, where from and how much (Dare i ask?) Thanks for the welcomes! Problem is that it isnt  The last owner of my car had it painted black to make it look like a CF one (and it does till you get really close), Im gonna get the car sprayed so im just leaving it as it is for now. jimbobbalooba 0 Posted January 15, 2005 like the idea of a CF bonnet though, are they available? How much for the loom and wipers GIXX
jimbobbalooba 0 Posted January 15, 2005 Next question...... At the moment some knob's 15" dodgey alloys are still on the car having only got it today, obviously bigger ones will go on. I'm thinking of 18's and a 30mm drop. What are the consequences of doing this ie rubbing etc...
GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 15, 2005 for the loom pm h100vw, it seems pricey but well well worth it , probably the best mod i've done, you can make your own but gavin does very good work lupo wipers and arms are from vw mate, not too expensive ..well worth it tho
jimbobbalooba 0 Posted January 15, 2005 got any instructions, i can do most stuff ok with the right guidence and i'm in no rush.
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted January 15, 2005 18in wheels will most likely need the arches rolling if you are doing a 35mm drop. The ride will also be very firm, as you'll have hardly any rubber between the wheel and the road! 18in wheels can make the car look a little wrong too... A bit too big.... 17in is the sweetest, along with a 30-40mm drop (mine isn't lowered, Jim) and will preserve your teeth on those roads ;)
GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 15, 2005 you've got a pm
jimbobbalooba 0 Posted January 15, 2005 so 17's won't rub then?
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted January 15, 2005 With 205 tyres, no. I have 215s on mine, which only rub when the car bottoms-out in swooping ditches, etc - so hardly ever. But then mine isn't lowered - so stick to 205 when lowering and you should be fine.
GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 15, 2005 i've got 17" and 205's on mine , lowered with koni coilovers and it never rubs , even with 4 in the car :-)
jimbobbalooba 0 Posted January 15, 2005 ok, i'll go with 17's then. Looking for a reasonable price inc tyres, something deep dish, chrome perhaps? any suggestions anyone?
Andi 2,147,483,647 Posted January 15, 2005 Get the ol' girl running sweet first, mate. Your 15s will do for now whilst you get it running properly! Darren is the Guru. Use the force! He also has wheels coming out of his ears ;)
