smarkham 0 Posted January 23, 2005 I have just picked up some audi tt comps. But im not sure what size rubber to put on them. I dont want to mess around rolling the arches or anything but i will be lowering the car by 40m.
OSV 0 Posted January 23, 2005 205/40R17 is the best for clearance and rolling radius.
A20 LEE 0 Posted January 23, 2005 i'd go for a 215/35/17 pirelli,
smarkham 0 Posted January 23, 2005 will 215s fit under the arches without any mods ?
OSV 0 Posted January 23, 2005 not always, depends on ride height thats why for best all round choice, price and lack of hassle i'd go
smarkham 0 Posted January 23, 2005 Ok thanks all will go for 205s to be on the safe side. Oh and they cost less
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 23, 2005 Yep, Lee's choice gets my vote. That size is closer to the original rolling radius than 205/40. As Gareth said, fouling depends on ride height and offset. My 8 x 17s with 215 tyres don't catch when set to offset 40, but do (on the outer rear arches) when set to offset 35.
A20 LEE 0 Posted January 23, 2005 will 215s fit under the arches without any mods ? they should with a 35 sidewall. I'll dig out a pic to show you how much bigger a 40series tyre is compared to a 35. Here you go, not very clear but you can see that the 40series tyre is much bigger.
