What size rubber do i need

I have just picked up some audi tt comps. But im not sure what size rubber to put on them. I dont want to mess around rolling the arches or anything but i will be lowering the car by 40m.

205/40R17 is the best for clearance and rolling radius.

not always, depends on ride height thats why for best all round choice, price and lack of hassle i'd go 205

Yep, Lee's choice gets my vote. That size is closer to the original rolling radius than 205/40. As Gareth said, fouling depends on ride height and offset. My 8 x 17s with 215 tyres don't catch when set to offset 40, but do (on the outer rear arches) when set to offset 35.

they should with a 35 sidewall. I'll dig out a pic to show you how much bigger a 40series tyre is compared to a 35.

 

Here you go, not very clear but you can see that the 40series tyre is much bigger.
