Engine rumble/vibration

Recommended Posts

Hi chaps,

I am getting a rubble / vibration coming from my engine when i pull away hard (it sounds almost like a grinding). I have got a feeling that my front engine mount has gone but would that cause this as well?

Thanks in advance

Tom

Slight top end misfire? Certainly in the case of the VR at least.... ignition and fuelling needs to be 100% bang on the VR otherwise the engine tends to run coarsely...which kind of feels like a grinding through the floor.

Dunno...that was a pure guess :D But yeah, check mounts are worn to buggery.

Cheers for the reply chaps,

Graham, my car is going to my mechanics to get the engine mount replaced on tuesday next week. I'll let you know if this has solved the problem.

i dunno, might run true, as wheels rub and they shouldnt!

But ride isnt exactly smooth! go over a bump at speed, and more than likely to knock myself out!

OK, i have since been told that this may be a worn drive shaft / cv joint.

Does anybody know what to look for ie. any excess movement etc?

Cheers

Tom

If your CV joint is worn the boot would have probally split and crap has got in there and caused it to ware. Have a look at the boots and see if any oil is seeping out i.e. if oil gets out crap can get in.

No, its not lowered but the previous owner had put a set of 17's on with very low profile tyres which caused the car to clatter around.
