corradostorm 0 Posted February 10, 2005 A number of the Green LED's have failed in the head unit. Currently using the orange setting which are all working fine. Are these LED's difficult to replace? Good audio repair centre in Colchester?
Henny 0 Posted February 10, 2005 they're normally surface mount, bi-colour LEDs which have 2 contacts on 'em (put voltage through one way, they go green, the other way to go orange) They're about 3mm long by 1mm wide (and about 0.5mm tall!) so to say they're a little fiddly to do would be an understatement! :| It is possible (I used to do 'em in Mobile phones) but you may find that the labour bill will hurt a lot... :| You may find it cheaper to buy a new face for your head unit if it's a face off one... 8) Lemme know if it is and I'll dig out the contact I've got for new face plates... 8)
corradostorm 0 Posted February 10, 2005 Cheers, It is a face off (It's the standard top end VR and 'Storm' Sony head unit). ideally i'd like it repaired (or replacement face) as the whole car is factory.
Henny 0 Posted February 10, 2005 I'll give my supplier a bell tomorrow morning and see if he can get a replacement face (it'd be cheaper than getting it repaired if he can get one... ;) )
MikeVR6 0 Posted February 12, 2005 On a similar note. I don't have the manual for my Sony Headunit. The main display no longer works in orange mode and I can't remember how to change it to green. What's the key combination?

jonrb 0 Posted August 11, 2005 Well, you learn a new thing every day. I've had my '96 Corrado VR6 for 9 years and I never knew you could change the colour of the display on the standard Sony head unit. Guess I should have read the manual really.
PoorMansPorsche 0 Posted August 14, 2005 id personally would get someone to replace the leds, it used to cost me £15 quid to get the leds replaced on my old mobiles so im sure you could get someone in that area to look at your flip front.
