RACK 0 Posted February 16, 2005 How come VW G-Laders always go for a lot more money, than the ones on Mini Cooper S's and Merc Kompressor's??? Cheers RACK
Jim 2 Posted February 16, 2005 Because they don't make the g-lader any more! :)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 16, 2005 And they are a lot more difficult to make and all were hand made AFAIK.
Jim 2 Posted February 16, 2005 That and I guess the G60 and G40 g-laders were only really used by VW on their engines.. the eaton type chargers used on Mini's and Mercs are all of a similar design (I think?) so are very very mass produced and consequently cheaper... Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 16, 2005 Yeah, VW dusted off an old French design from the early 1900s and refined it and got it working. VW were also the ONLY car plant at the time that had the technology and machinery to do it.
RACK 0 Posted February 16, 2005 I remember reading something about VW getting the french design. I was just wondering that, due to the price of a new/2nd hand G-Lader would it be cheaper to get a Merc eaton from a 230K and get it to fit? I'm not planning on doing but I just thought it would be something to keep in mind??
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 16, 2005 The Eatons are big fellas, well, the Merc ones are but the Mini ones could probably fit a G60.
GazzaG60 0 Posted February 16, 2005 merc eatons fit a G60. there are kits to mount that charger. mmini one is far too small to do anything. those charger suck anyway. far to much heat generation with boost. go lysholm or turbo or stick with the lader. RACK 0 Posted February 16, 2005 I've heard the mini one wouldn't be able to flow enough for the G60, but I bet the merc one would be interesting? Where do you get the kit from to mount it?
mrbeige 0 Posted February 16, 2005 RACK, I can get hold of a merc one if you are interested!
RACK 0 Posted February 16, 2005 I've not long ago had my charger G-Werked. I was just wondering how hard it would be to fit one. Thanks though mate
GIXXERUK 0 Posted February 16, 2005 compare the price a leather interior off the c to say a mk3 golf , the mk3 is loads cheaper .....supply and demand :-(
