Passed my MOT...but had 2 advisory cooments

Recommended Posts

Passed my MOT and chuffed to bits but there were two advisory comments:

- some cracking on o/s drive shaft outer gator

- some corrosion on fuel pipe by fuel pump

Are these serious? can i deal with them easily or should i get a mechanic to do it?? :) cheers guys

Both ultimately need attention, but your MOT tester probably felt they weren't severe enough. The cracking on the CV boot for most testers has to be a visible crack where the grease starts to come out of. Yours may have just been surface cracks.

Fuel piping id personally get a mechanic to deal with it, unless your a dab hand at that sort of think. Best to get things sorted if you can afford it rather than be sorry.

benji16v, plates just have to be readable, clean and not cracked for an MOT... There's nothing about the typeface in the MOT rules... ;)

What's wrong with your rear lights to make you think they'll fail?

Yeah, that's the funny thing, as on the other hand, you could get pulled by a copper who happens to know the DVLA rules for number plates (typefaces, spacing, size etc.)

as far as my lights go they are a little bit too red when indicating in daylight, at night they do look orange and i think the fella sprayed over the reflectors  Doh.....

we`ll see, not really a massive job to change `em over if they do fail

will let you all know
