It sounds like an excellent idea, but I too have limited mechanical knowledge. Theoretically there's no reason that it shouldn't work, indeed a quick google tells me they raced a supercharged diesel at le Mans in the 1950s...

yea Henny! lol, how strange!? It will definitley work if you have the cash but a TDI is the way forward for dervs I think and is more cost effective., although maybe a Supercharged diesel V8 or bigger may be useful. Just wonder if VW will bring out a TT diesel like Vauxhall, PSA/Jag etc and BMW.

Actually I meant twin turbo diesel but I think you could be on to something there, but only if they could shoehorn the 3.0 V6 TDI in there, otherwise would just seem like marketing shpeel and not really satisfy us enthusiasts.

yeah i never had the privelige of hearing j-dub. definately a good idea tho, you wouldn't have any diesel lag.

true but diesels have practically no lag anyway copared to a petrol turbo, so makes sense for a turbo (that is not connected to the crank) and less restrictive top end where the diesel suffers.
